Thumbs up

No pictures...Sorry, they redesigned it so it will better hold beverages. It has deeper sides that actually wrap around the beverage, holding it securely.

Yeah, they are deeper so it hold your drink better. My friend with the 99 TL complains sometimes that his drink tipped over when he floors it going around turn.

Post 99' - 00' Cupholders

I was at Acura today and was looking at an 01' model. They redesigned the cupholders for the TL. I went to parts and ordered a new one, around 8 bucks. It is redesigned to better hold your beverages.

I'll have to check that out. Those cupholders are useless, except for my cellphone and, like, those little cans of Ensure or whatever. (Maybe my dad should get a TL ...)

Here's the 2001. I used a coke can so you can judge the depth. I've never seen a 2000 cup holder so I don't know the diff. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to easily replace those cupholders with the 2000 ones? If so, how hard is it and how much will it cost.

I can see they are much better.
The rear slot is much deeper.
If they can fit on the 2000 model I will sure purchase it if not too much $$$.
Thanks for that helpful info.

If you read the first post, he said that they are $8 bucks...plus taxes probably. And, they are a snap to change. just pull one out and put the other in, i'm guessing.

Great pics. What camera are you using to get those shots? In any event, I think the cupholders should be fairly easy to replace, as I recall being able to pull the entire unit right out on my 2001. I'm assuming the design of the 1999s are the same...

I'm using a rather old Canon Powershot model A50. It's only a year old, but it's already so outdated!

I've got the Canon A5 Zoom.... almost the exact one (my resolution is lower). I was looking at the new S20 and I went to buy it and that was discontinued already. I can't win!!!

Sorry to be off topic, but the Canon G1 is the one you want. It's under a grand, and is more than enough camera for any enthusiast. It's next on my list when I get the dough. Somewhere around the big screen TV and a new laptop.

Well, called my dealer and the parts dept. says the part is now listed as no longer available.

I'd really like to get that part # from anyone who has managed to get the replacement holder so I can double check it against their computer.

Thanks!

I purchased a Canon PowerShot G1 a couple weeks ago and LOVE it! I would highly recommend the G1!

You can also pull the cup holder insert out, plug in your cell phone in the armrest box, run cord through into the cup area, and use it for a cell phone box. Close doors and it hides the phone away. Open it and it's all plugged in and ready to make a call. If you use it this way, you then have no cup holder until you take the phone out and snap the insert back in.

I have a smaller phone. (Nokia 8290) and it fits in the cupholder place without having to remove it. I ran a power cord through there as well to charge while I'm driving. Not only that, liquids are not allowed in my TL anyway.

Question

I went and ordered the new cupholder today for $6.67. I ordered it even though the service guy told me it would NOT fit. Mine should be on Friday or Monday. Has anyone actually installed the new cupholder in a '99 or '00 TL?

Talked to the Parts department at Greenwich Acura and they said the 01 cupholders WILL NOT fit the 99-00's. So much for that idea.
