97 3.2TL vs. 97 A4q
I'm in the market for a used car and have narrowed down my choices to the 97 3.2TL or a 97 A4 1.8t quattro. I've owned nothing but Volkswagens and I own an Audi Coupe right now, so if I bought the Acura it would be my first. I've asked this question on the Audi forum and got various responses. I'm wondering what problem areas I should be looking at for the TL. From my understanding the Acura is more luxurious, the Audi more sporty. Anyone with experience with both?

Well, the 97 TL's are sweet cars, glad your considering it. Well besides the obvious, v6 to turbo 4, more space and (IMO) easier to read and distinguish buttons for a/c and radio. BUt thats probably not what you looking huh? Also do you live in an area where you need quattro? Cause if so i'd get the Audi. Plus if you get the TL, you get to become a member of this great group of guys.

just on design istelf... the audi for sure, but performance, acura for sure... what do you rather...
the only thing i hate about most european cars... is that old school design that never progresses.
------------------
99' TL, Silver, Comtech springs, Side markers, Factory kit, Ractive air filter, Tips, Mirror tint, Factory Spoiler, Moonroof visor, Burlwood shift knob, and of course my inspire lights. and also, some cool looking pedals.

okay, i have experience driving both cars actually.. i currently own a 97 3.2TL with a few aftermarket mods... a really good friend of mine owns a A4 1.8 quattro stick... and i have driven his car around quite a few times for long stretches....
what i love about the TL over the A4(aside from the fact that i own it and fixed it up) is that it accelerates faster, heated seats, more room in the back, IMO less problems reliability, and overall a more luxurious car
what i love about the A4 is that it is waaay more sportier looking (i like the sport seats better than the TL's leather), the red instrument gauges, and the handling (or maybe that's cuz he lowered his car), the fact that it actually is stick and the TL only comes in automatic, and it is a lot better on fuel than the TL (oh yeah i also love the fact that the A4 comes in yellow and electric blue)
i was actually thinking about getting a used A4 2.8 for a second car... reason why not the 1.8T.. is that its got a tiny bit more punch, that and i'm not really sure about turbo engines in the long run cuz they tend to be not as reliable
oh yeah the A4 has more aftermarket mods than the 97 TL...
hope that helped
