Question 6000k vs 8000k help

i wanna get new hid bulbs for my 99. i wanna get a bluish color to them and would prefer to get 6000k but ive read that after they warm up theres really no blue to them and its just pure white. i know ill lose light output but i really dont care much because id rather have that bluish tint. i dont really wanna go to 8000k because they can be blinding and attract cops. can someone with 6000k tell me what the bluish in their lights is like, and if you have 8000k is it really that bright/blinding to others and can attract unwanted attention from cops. please provide pics of your 6000k or 8000k if you have them.

I have kaixen 6000 and they are plenty blue- you do lose some white in the first 50 feet in front of the car- so if you need to avoid things often- go with the more witesh blue 5000K which is slightly more blue than stock
the 6000 also pick out road lane markings and signs from way far ahead- passengers are always amazed at how far compared to their own cars
The white stripes on semi trucks jump out blue at you
Get the 6000 for what you are looking for- wont attract attention and looks good.
Very hard to get accurate pics

Blue is gay. Stick to something that is safe and actually let you see the road and other drivers. I wouldnt go higher than 6k.

This whole blue fad is nothing more than peoples mis interpretation of color from true HIDs, and people buying cheap halogens trying to reproduce it. The light isnt supposed to be blue. Its pure white. Its the most visible light possible.

I got 6k and it's enough. My friend has 8k on his MR2 spyder and it's just too damn blue. I can always spot him in the city on random drives because it's so noticeable.

get 6000k ..i've had the 8000 and the 10000...you can't see crap! use the higher kelvin hids for your fog lights if you want the cool factor...and the 6000k or lower for your headlights. this is coming from a guy who's spent well over $1,200 on hid kits and hid bulbs.

just get the 6000s
If you are really trying to visualize- go to Lowes and look at the wall display with pics of different florescent lights- the K scale applies and you can see 3000 5 6 all in a row on their giant sized pics.
I changed some house bulbs to 6500 so there is a nice, not harsh blue light on the driveway/walkway, and on the stairs so I dont get the bright white shock in the middle of the night. Next the garage is getting a set

At a recent azine meet, I had my headlights on for a pic, and members gathered around peering at them

5 or 6k. I have Kaixen 5000's and they are perfect IMO. A little hint of blue, but mostly very bright white. Looks very nice and they work awesome!

send a message to Excelerate
he is an authorized vendor here and has Kaixen
Get the 5000 if you want close to OE bulbs whiteness -on the ground directly in front of the car- say the first 50-75 feet
they will have more blue to the driver than OE, that helps pick out reflecto stuff in paint and road signs.
6000 is way more blue than stock - great for those with poor night vision and need all the help they can get with lane edge markings and seeing signs at a distance.
You lose the bright white light directly in front of car with 6000, so if you are often on dark twisty roads, 5000 is going to work better for you
I have 6000, and if I dont see the object until the last second- hit it~
or add some proper driving lights hidden in the lower grill-

Go to Lowes - they have a display of light colors on large pics on the wall- in the florescent lightbulbs section. You can see the stages of color from 3000 to 6000 all in a row.

Both will look blue to oncoming traffic and drooling ziners

I got the 5000k and honestly they are a little too blue for me. I prefer the really bright clean white though. There was more blue in the 5000k than i was expecting. It wasn't just a hint of blue, but everything had a blue color to it. I would rather see things in their natural color.

I do like how the signs light up though.

i can buy 3 hid kits for that price, and still have a 18 month warranty....not much science involved in glare kits

Go to the groupbuy thread on Kaixen kits in the black market. Or PM Excelerate about it. He may start one up.

Dont be misled or misinformed by other HID brands' claims on Kelvin ratings . To set the record straight on Kelvin ratings as applied to HID :

* Kelvin is a measure of colour temperature and NOT the actual lighting power or output
* It is generally accepted that the best Kelvin rating for optimal human night vision is between 3800 and 5500 K
* All our 35 W HID kits run at 4100 K , and our 50W Racing kits are available at 4000 TO 5500 K
* Anything over 5750 K and human vision and depth perception is significantly reduced
* Anything over 6000 K and the actual lighting output/power reduces exponentially
* Many companies claim to offer 8000- 12000 K Bulbs ...if this were true the headlight would shine DARK BLUE TO EVEN DARKER PURPLE !!

those pics are great example of the diff in color
You can also see large display pics of different colors at lowes in the florescent light bulb section-

We only need the BULB~ not a conversion kit!!! so far less than some imagine to replace the bulbs. dealer gets nearly 200 per bulb for stockers

Excelerate tried a group buy on bulbs and ended up just getting several sets to always have some on hand- about 150$ for the pair
PM him for current price- Excelerate

You dont need the whole kit, you just need the bulbs. Contact Excelerate (one of our vendors) for prices on bulbs.

i just got 6000K's on my 99TL...

let me tell you, they look amazing! I absolutely love their color. it's very similar color to very expensive cars' lights (i've seen that tone on some Lexuses and Audis)... The color is just perfect. I love blue lights too, and 6000K is pushing its limits of being too much blue. it's just perfect for me.

use the headlights every time you drive now- get 100 hours of ~burn in time~ on them and the color and brightness stabilize

same as very expensive cars??? Your stock headlights were the exact same bulbs as them. If the color on them appear to be different its because they have Projectors, and the fact that your bulbs were close to 10 years old.

i just got my Authentic Philips Ultinon 6000K installed the other night! Omg they have such better light output than the cheap ebay bulbs that I got for 50 bucks! I recommend them to anyone! when you drive at night it lights up streets signs with a purple hue. It's a great visual mod that won't hurt your light output.
