6000k fuss????

ok so i was so excited to install my 6000k lights this morning. one they were in, i must say that i wasnt that impressed with them. To me they still looked realyl white, but they are def brighter. now what worries me is if i really have 6000k lights. I ordered them from ebay, and the bulbs came in two boxes. nothin said that they were 6k lights, but it did say do not use in usa/europe. so do you guys think i have 6ks or what? i think i might just need to wait till nightfall. hopefully ill be able to tell then.

Philips 6000k bulbs huh

I hope your bulb looks like this. 6000k you can see blue and some hints of purple. Light output/intensity should not be better then 4200k stock bulbs because it drops in lumes as you go higher in the color temp.

Your bulbs did say Philips Germany, D2R, Not for use in Eurpoe/USA, purple insulation, and blood stain metal halides. Else its not a philips, I'm surprise you said they were just whiter because I see a lot of colors(bluish/purple) in Philips bulbs.

Here's another comparison shot.
One on the left is 6000K & right is stock 4300K.

This is what my Philips 6000K D2S look like in real-life since some cameras can't get the right color when you take pics.

I remember comparing my 6000K with Dvs rice's 4300K. His stock HID looked almost like green compares to my purplish 6000Ks.

You said they are a little Violet?

Meaning a little purple?

So they do have some color?

well i mean its a little violet, but its more pure white then anything. When i was looking around on the net i read that they are supposed to be a pure white color. Im jsut wondering where everyone got the idea that they are blue and im wonderign why everyone else has a different model number then me. the only thing that i found was that the 85122WX is the older model bulb but its supposed to be a D2r bulb, not a D2s bulb like hzm posted.

I posted how a 6000k Philips bulbs looks like, I never said you should have D2S(you might have some other brand then philips). I only post that because its the only picture I found for a 6000k Philips bulb. The D2S is made for Projection HID. Only difference between D2R and D2S is the metal band on the bulb. Paul posted two D2R bulbs right below my post, one 6000k and one 4300k. We're making sure you can id if you do have 6000k bulbs. Everyone says its blue because it is bluer then stock 4300k bulb. How are you sure you have 6000k bulbs, you going by the ebay seller's words? You don't even know what brand you bought?

Do you think the S2000 bulds will fit in the TL. If they do thats probably the look you want. I've been wanting to find out so I could change my TL lights as well.

The S2000 uses 4100k D2S bulbs. They are not 6000k. They look cool because its a Projector type HID. Its the same color output as our TLs' HID D2R bulbs.

If you see your bulbs that it mark 85126 WX.That are Philips 6000k D2R.If the blubs marked 85122 WX.That are 6000k D2S.Because my friend brought the bulbs marked 85122 WX D2S for his bmw so I know that.
