6 Speed Transmission Quality

Hey guys,

I'm looking to pick and buy a tranny today. Unfortunately, it's been slim pickings.

Of the two trans I am looking at, both were pulled from cars hit in the front. They say the trans are tested and working, but is it common for trannies to be damaged and still seem to be working? Or is the trans generally OK if it runs through the gears?

I don't want to have to spend shipping to send it back. But more importantly, I just want to get a trans that works properly.

Surprisingly, they didn't have any pictures to show even though I asked. I know some people have had cracks in the housing and stuff, and I just don't want to deal with that.

But thanks, I think you're right. If there aren't any leaks, it should be fine.

trans especially manuals are very strong. As long as they arent damaged/leaking you will be fine.

if the hit is on the front tire Trans side, i wouldn't risk it, on the other side, or direct front its still questionable, but a better chance it wasn't damaged, also try to get pics from when it was in the car, might be easier to see a damaged seam while its on the engine, housing cracks are easier to find off the car
