6 Disc CD Changer Upgrade Vs. Aftermarket MP3 Player
I just bought my 2000 3.2 TL, and the six-disc cd changer in the back is broken. Now I'm left with the CD Player in the dash which doesn't really play CD-Rs at all.
I've decided I'm either gonna get my hands on a 03-04 TL 6-disc in-dash changer, or just get an mp3 cd deck.
I checked out the prices at a local Car Audio place, and it's gonna run me around $300 total for the deck, installation, and the dash-kit (the thing that surrounds the deck, so it fits in the dash).
However, I'm not sure if the volume and track change buttons on the steering wheel will work with an aftermarket MP3 CD player.
I also am not sure where I could get my hands on one of the 03-04 TL 6disc changers, nor how much they're gonna cost me.
If I could get some input on this matter, I would be very greatful. Would also like some opinions on which is better, the single disc MP3 CD Player, or the 6 disc stacker.
Thanks!

no matter what the 6 disc wont play mp3s, i plan on changing mine asap, since most of my music is in mp3s. 300 bills to install? shop around...thats too much for even cdn money, usually 50 bucks for a full install (subs, amps running wire) and no, the buttons wont work once u change it.

Get a blitz safe adapter ($75) this will solve your MP3 problem and save you money. Do a search and you'll find all the info you need on this handy mod.
A blitz safe adapter gives you an audio in via the CD changer port found on the back of your head unit. Any MP3 player can then be used to send audio into your stock head unit. Audio play back is crystal clear... To use the CD changer port press the CD button twice.

Aftermarket hands down winner! much better sound from it, more options for what you want it to play. many have hook ups for the ipod and to be able to control it from the HU. sat radio ready... Aftermarket is the way to go
