55w hid??

55w hid??
my question here is..... will i be able to take the stock 35w ballast use it for my fogs....and slap on a 55w kit??
for those who dont know the difference:
What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
The 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w kits. The 55W system ballasts are about 1 cm longer than the 35W ballasts. 55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit).55w Kits are not recommended for smaller fog light housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area.

you will not be able to take your stock low beam hid kit and put it on the fog lights, no way thats happening with out some cut wires and a soldering iron. (d2r and 9006 does not mix)
i would get two hid kits, one for the low beams and one for the fogs and wire them in with a little custom work.
my stock ballast went on me so i wired up a Xentec Slim HID kit into both my low beams with a little custom wiring, not hard at all. mine is 35 watts.
check your wiring harnesses and make sure you find out the amp rating on them. a 55 watt ballast may draw too much current on the low beams wiring harness because its rated for 35 watts ballasts. the fog lights are 55 watts to begin with so there wont be a problem there with the wiring harness.

i wanted to get a 55wkit for the low beam and use the 35w oem kit for the fogs....but i did run into that problem...bulbs not fitting...another problem: the oem kit is not waterproof...take it out of its case and it vulnerable...not good....
but what about 4 5 6 yrs ago..when i bought stolen kits from maximas and tls....jus place it somwhere safe and hope water doesnt drop..lol.
anyways my fogs are from an accord..they are h11...now i ask you guys..isnt a ballast just the ignitor....doesnt the wire to connect the bulb comes with the bulb....can i buy a d2r kit...install it on the low beam....ok now i have the oem kit sittin on my table....buy h11 hid bulbs....connect them to the oem ballast sitting on my table and hook it up to the fogs...
hope i didnt lose yous

Ok, first of all a 55w HID kit is just overkill. Just my opinion. HID's are bright already and you will have literally a night and day difference by adding HID's in your fogs to compliment your stock HID headlights. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The 35w HID kit is extremely bright in our fog housings that you may have to aim them down just a touch but you will still get further reaching and wider light with a 35w kit. Don't be greedy and schit..lol

ROFL..this ol man be knowin some lights..this old man also paved the way to HID fogs by having the first fog light conversion (MagLight flashlights attached to the bumper with duct tape)

+1 my friend who used to work there hooked me up with 35w kit and bulbs... 55w is w/e, id say just buy a 35w 9006 kit for ur fogs and a set of 35w d2r's for low beam and be happy. imho, 8000K+ is too much...

dont get the 55w hids. i was planning to get them myself. but dont.
they are overkill and arnt really brighter. just use up more energy.
the 55w hids try to simulate mercedez benz and bmw headlights. besdies the kit you are going to have to do extra wiring and soldering so it "tricks" the system.
its useless. ur going to just drain energy, no difference at all.
if you want brighter light, stay within the 4-6K bulbs. get good bulbs, instead of ebay knockoffs
and for an extra kick, do what i did
take out ur bulbs, take a screwdrewire, stick in the headlight housing, and bend down the reflector cover for the bulb
nothing will be in the way of your bulb, and ur lights will be brighter

yeah I agree with uncle jitty-you wont have any practical use for 55w lighting...the 35 is extremely bright as it is. Ive got the 4300K HID 35w conversion in my fogs and its BRIGHT..

yeah..i would think the shield is what provides our cars the beam cutoff and would create upward glare? if I was you, leave that shield alone and get the hid fogs...the hid fogs actually add more forward beam pattern into the headlight beam pattern providing more light..if you aim the just right, they look like one huge blob of light leaving no dark spots...i love it.....and no flashes from other cars!!

no those are my old headlights.

thats with the cover off
they actually shoot down on the ground more then straight forward
but no, there is no significant cut-off line
it spreads out evenly

yea, ive been thinking about getting hid' fogs. since i barely use my fogs because of the ugly yellow light
has anybody had any experience with the led fogs?

LED fogs are nice, but don't get them if you looking to light up the road with them. they are mainly just there to not look yellow and to match my 5000k hid low beams. they don't throw a lot of light. but they do look
