45k Service: Basic vs Premium Service

Fellas,

I need your resident expertise. My car is due for its 45k service (I know...I haven't driven it much ever since I moved to SF) and I wanted to seek some advice regarding the 'basic' versus 'premium' service. I've searched for threads but wasn't able to find anything substantive.

Basically, for an addition $100 (total of $268), you get:

1. Balance of tires.
2. Replacing wiper inserts
3. Replace factor air filter element
4. Drain and fill transmission fluid, replace transmission drain, and fill plug washers.

It seems only item 4 is worth anything to me at this point. I'm sorry if this is a repeat thread but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or even a link to another discussion.

Gracias.

That last 100 bucks isn't too bad of a deal. Tire Balence runs 25 at any normal tire shop; wiper inserts are around 5-10 bucks at Pep Boys, and the filter runs about 20 ish I think. That leaves you with a 50 dollar tranny flush. The Honda Z1 fluid is around 3 bucks a quart, and I think you need 3-4 quarts? Add a buck for washers and the result is quite resonable.

Of course, you may not need some of the services; I always try to get the dealer to do specific thigns, rather then "packages" Then again, I do most of all my work so it's not an issue.

Good Luck!
