This is just a guess but once ur engine is warm wouldnt ur car produce a good amount more HP if ur sucking in air that is -45, thats some dense air.

Yeah, it is cold down here as well. I had to actually wear a jacket the other day considering it was in the 60's at night.

As to the car running well, other than start up's, the colder the better (although not that cold:wow: )

WINDCHILL is not an actual temperature (-48F my a$$)! It is what the human body perceives when its buffer of warm air is stripped from it by the wind. Your car does NOT feel windchill.
The actual temp in MA/CT last night was ~-12 -> -6 F.

the coldest that I have yet to drive my TL in was -35C and the car actually showed this number on the display...so I was very surprised I didn't have a problem driving. The car felt like a jalopy when I first turned it on, and everything was f*cking rattling at this temperature. It took a good 15-20 min to get the engine completely back to normal running condition, but once it was 100% warmed up, I gunned it and couldn't believe the power. It truly was like having a CAI built in, without actually having to install one.

I wonder though, would it be bad for the car to run a CAI in temperatures this cold? Is there any temperature that is too cold for one to use a CAI?

I would think the engine would eventually break down due to it being far too cold?

any views on this?

Could anyone take and post a picture of the temperature reading from your TL ? Staying in California, you will never see the extreme temperature like that.

Once the car is warmed up, I don't think that would happen. I figure the mass airflow sensor (along with the rest of them) would adjust your mix appropriately.

However, before the car's warmed up you have the whole "cold oil doesn't flow well" issue.

your engine will be fine in those temps, unless you do it with a stone cold engine, once its warm your good to go!

Has anyone experienced a problem with their windshield wiper fluid freezing in the tubes?

With these low temps in DC mine freezes all the time...

I haven't had the problem with it freezing in the tubes, but I've certainly had it where you spray the windshield and it instantly freezes up.

Make sure that the fluid you're using it rated for low temperatures. Beware of methanol based fluids. They have a tendancy of ruining the rubber hoses.

I live in a warm climate, but I've got to think that someone's solved this problem.

What's the best non-destructive WW fluid for cold temps?

yea, same 4 me the other day. but even though i was seeing the temp reading on some buildings as -35 my gauge was only reading -20. could be broken!

dr.cookie , yea i'll take a pix when it gets that cold again.
considering my dig. operates at that temp. hehe :p

does anyone know if its safe to run the blower on auto +31 at high when the engine's that cold? am i not stealing whatever warmth the engine's trying to build up?

Remember one thing, Don't use your SportShift in very cold temps. Says so in the manual.

The formulas are:
"F" to "C": Tc=(5/9)*(Tf-32):
"C" to "F": Tf=(9/5)*Tc+32:
Or you just can use one of the cites like this: http://www.agribiz.com/agInfo/FahrCel.htm

You cant switch from Farenheit to Celcius. I bought my TL in Canada, so all my guages are in Celcius, with the exception of the odometer and spedometer. I had those changed.
