Yeah. "New and improved". Thats what they told me too when my 2nd tranny was replaced. I just had my 3rd one put in 2 weeks ago. I only got 58k out of that one (and 30k out of the first). I guess Acura figured out a way to double the life of the tranny from 30k vs. 58k! Yippie!
Its a shame really, because other than creaks and rattles, no one seems to have any other problems with the car beyond the huge issue with transmissions. If Acura could have actually come up with a permanent fix for the 3rd gear clutch assembly, I'd honestly have to say the car reliabilty would be pretty good. But the continual problems with the transmission are not acceptable. And since I am up near 90k miles now, what am I supposed to do, kep the car beyond 100k and then eat the $3500-$4000 cost when it goes the next time? Since I am on my 3rd transmission already, there is absolutely no reason to think it won't fail again long before it really should. I recall somewhere reading a while back when they first issued the warranty extension that Acura claims the expected life of a tranny is somehwere near 125k miles. So tell me then why the 100k warranty doesnt automatically reset when they change the transmission? Shouldn't I expect to get at least 100k miles or 7 years on a replacement one if thats what I was supposed to expect to get from the original tranny, or the second tranny that were replaced?? WHY is it any different now? Given the repeated failures, Acura should not place the loss on my shoulders the next time it goes.
