2nd shifting to 3rd SS Prob

It seems whenever i give 1/2 gas or so and try and shift around 3500 or so, i'll push up on the SS lever all the way to the end, but it doesn't switch. The number 3 doesnt come up, it stays at two. If I give it another try it will usually go. On one occasion I had to try 3 times to get it to go. Not really sure if it has something to do with the way I'm pushing it or if there is something actually wrong with the car. Any ideas? Thanks, VipeR.

P.S. Hope to see everyone this Sunday (9th) at the Toronto Meet!

The only times I have had that problem is if it had just shifted into 2nd. Like if I take off from a light and want to just get up to 40mph, I might get on it a little, run through 1st, then about time it shifts into 2nd I am right at 40 so I try to shift into 3rd but it won't. I think it is just the computer or something, needing a couple seconds before it can shift, but I'm not sure.

Now that you mention it, how come you cant manually shift from first to second in the TL-S. I could never figure this out. My friend has an audi A6 and he can shift from first to second using the Triptronic shifting. whats the deal? Its not too much of a concern; i still love my TL-S.

what really irks me about the SS is when I take off with an easy start, shift into 2nd, and then give it more than 1/2 throttle, the ecu automatically switches back into 1st. I hate that! I want to hear the deep rumble of the exhaust in 2nd... Whenver I do this, I have to apologize to my passengers for the spontaneous and unexpected jolt.

If you stay on the gas and shift from 2nd to 3rd there will be a slight delay when the ECU shifts. It does get annoying but that's what we get for not driving a real stick.

I have the same problem as well... anything more than 1/2 way in the throttle, the SS simply REFUSED to shift from 2nd in 3rd unless I let go of gas pedal a little.... What gives???

This is all very strange... I've never had anything of this sort on my TLS. I drive about 75% in SS mode.

I've been shifting consistantly today, and it seems i have to leave my foot on the accelerator. Every so often I'll run into the poroblem, but keeping my foot on the gas during the shift and before it seems to help it. Must be something with the ECU, hopeuflly it will pass. Taking the car in for a problem like this would be hard to fix I'm sure. "We test drove it and can get it to shift fine for us.. blah blah"

to shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear manually, you would have to use your gear shift instead of the S.S... it's kina stupid, but that's the only way to do it.
