2nd Gen TL NAV Replacement

(*Mods* Please keep in 2G TL Forum)

Hey all...

I am torn... and I am putting this message specifically in the 2nd Gen forum, as opposed to the general NAV board, because this topic is more a 2nd Gen specific issue than it is a general NAV issue...

My maps are old... Really old... And I want to replace them... But I can pretty much buy a new Garmin that runs circles around our current NAV system for about the same price as what it will cost me for map data for our stock units...

Have any of you found a graceful solution for taking a Garmin, and integrate it into the dash? I think it will look silly to have a NAV stuck in the middle of my dash...and then another NAV stuck to my windshield... I was thinking about just double stick tape/velcro and shoving the new Garmin unit right on top of my current stock NAV screen... I know... not the most graceful solution...

That's why I am posting here... To see if any of you have done anything creative...

Thanks all!!!

there is a way to install a complete new radio-gps unit in the stock space for the 00 and later
or buy the newest dvd here for about 200$
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT.../Default-Start
You can get updated dvd for maps but it will still be a 10 year old system as you know- with its limitations

you can buy mounts for portables that attach to the seat rail and keep gps down low in dash
