Question 2G TL Auto Transmission Guru's please chime in!

Hello!

Here's my situation. I have a 2000 accord with a J32a1 out of a 2001 TL that is married to my accord 4spd Auto. I am running the original J30 wiring harness and am using a 99TL ECU. Car ran fine with no issues.

Low and behold, the trans took a dump on me and I'm looking for something a bit more reliable to handle the mild power upgrade.

After some research, I have seen users on here swapping in a 2006 Honda 5spdAT accord trans. I would love to do this for reliability vs upgrading to an 03 TL trans.

These are the parts I am currently sourcing or already have in my possession:
2001 TL J32a1 motor
2001 TL Engine wiring Harness
2003 TL Shifter assembly
2003 TL-S ECU

I have read that the 00-03 TL's simply need to swap over this stuff:

The transmission range selector (otherwise known as 'neutral safety switch')will have to be swapped from the old trans, the newer switch has a different connector.
There is a small wire harness that connects to the 3 and 4 clutch pressures witches and the oil temp sensor, that will need to be swapped as well, theharness has a different connector to plug into the engine harness, but all the plugs going to the switches / sensors are the same.
According to Rock Auto, my 2000 accord trans has the same part number for the range selector/neutral safety from the 00-03 TL.

Does anyone know if my cooler/heater lines would swap over, assuming that they're the same as the 99TL. This seems like it would be the most difficult part to source if I needed find the set up to swap them over to an 06 accord transmission.

Also, does the 99TL(and assuming my 00 Accord) trans have the same wiring harness as the one on the 00-03 TL? Specifically the "small wire harness that connects to the 3 and 4 clutch pressures witches and the oil temp sensor."

Or would I be best off picking up an 03 TL-S 5spd AT and swapping that in for now and use and accord transmission once it fails.

Any serious advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Since you have the J32a1 engine there is no need for the 03 type-s ecu. Get the 00-03 TL ecu. The 4 speed trans had trans lines that ran to the radiator. The 00+ 5 speed didnt. You would just have to connect the atf warmer coolant lines. I would NOT get the TL 5spd trans. Get the Accord trans.

Thanks for the input!

So I'll probably pick up this ecu instead: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ECU-ECM-COMPUTER-ACURA-TL-2002-2003-3-2-V6-CALI-37820-PJE-L64-/150672306614?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2003%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item2314c4f1b6&vxp=mtr
As for the atf warmer/coolant lines, will they directly swap over from my 4spd auto, or would I need to source the lines? Also, do you have any insight on whether or not my transmission has the 3 & 4 clutch pressure wire harness, or will I need to source that as well?

Im not real familiar with the 4 speed, but im not sure it has the warmer. If it does then im sure it will, if not you will have to source them out. Odds are the trans will have it still on it. As for the pressure switch harness ??? Thats part of the engine or engine comp to dash harness if i remember right.

Been looking around and I can't find any hard information about the Accord 4spd auto's having the transmission warmer. Looks like I'll need to source one so I'm planning on ordering part #1 and (2x) #2 from this catalog: http://www.dchautomotiveparts.com/pa...r-speed-sensor
