I don't run my stock 2003 TLS rims any more and can't remember their width. Are all TLS rims 6.5 in width??? When I removed them I thought they were 17 x 7. No wnder my 8 inch wide rims look so much wider......

Yep, you can and I did but there is a diminishing return.
I doubt the footprint of 245/45/17 would be any larger than 235/45/17 and because of the extra flex, you would end up with a softer sidewall and more heat buildup in the shoulder.

Three Wheelin'
Ya I find the larger size tire also increases the performance in turns. I don't like the way it corners as much, but when taking the car on a ramp, I now can go as fast as those with sway bars. I've gone on some ramps that say 70 km/h and easily done 130 on it.
The Toyo's are a great tire, but they are noisier than stock, especially when coming to a stop. You get a low, but bassy rumble.
I like them though, and with those EBC pads, and rotors, they're awesome
