03 TL-S with 220K Org engine, rebuilt tranny (all clutch packs & TC replaced) @ 180K with additional oil cooler.
As a 2nd owner it was bought @ 65K in 2007.
Goal: 400K without tranny rebuild, currently using DW-1 mixed with Red Line Racing ATF (Type F).

My 02 TLS went to 325,253 miles before the tranny started slipping. This was the second transmission and with that many miles I've decided to strip out the parts before sending it to junkyard.

02 TL-S 2nd owner.. bought it 4 yrs ago at 270km now she's got almost 305km on it. original owner had the transmission recall done. Car was dealer maintained by Acura/Honda throughout its lifetime I have EVERY service record.. Never a single issue with the car mechanically. Motor still has lots of pep. only documented issue with this vehicle is currently I'm dealing with the psngr side subframe rust. so all thats getting replaced.
Im currently a chemical engineering student so money is tight now but I fully plan on keeping her and once out of school ill put as much money in it as needed to bring her back to how she looked off the lot lol.
This car will go another 300km easy!

Then you are in for a world of pain.....
By 400K almost every bushing in the car is probably dry up so most of the ride should be gone. Lots and lots of maintenance checks to do in that car, Have Fun!
And Welcome to Acurazine!

Welcome Mr.Propane !!!
The TL ya bought has served it's original owner well with over 400K on the dial.
Are ya just gonna run it as is .... until it dies ? Or, are ya wanting to make it last awhile ?
One would think that most everything has been already been replaced at least once or maybe twice. But....for peace of mind, have the car's motor, tranny, fluids, brakes and suspension inspected thoroughly before doing any long trips with it. Check the site's "DIY" sticky for common issues and if ya have any questions....just ask !

I will be driving the car as is for a while. If you seen what I owned in the last two years, you'd think I'm a glutton for punishment. Realistically, this might be the most reliable car I've owned so far this year.
As for maintenance, timing belt & water pump is getting replaced this weekend, along with the oil pump seal. I work at a Honda dealer so I'm getting a deal by having a tech do it for $175. I had another tech check it over before I bought it and the engine checked out. Might need trans 3 by next year.
The suspension needs a definite overhaul though.

Bought my 02 Tls with 78K on it back in '04. Had tranny replaced under warranty at 100k and now have 205k on it.
Needs new struts, bushings etc cause my ride isnt as smooth but the engine and tranny are in good shape. Hope to keep it as long as I can.

Welcome Jens916 !!!
As ya may already know......our 2nd Gen TL tranny's are known to be problematic.
Check out the previous threads on the subject. So, what is your tranny actually doing ?

Thanks for the welcome3.2TLc
Here is the problem I see. When it is time to shift the engine revs up and then there is a hard shift. It is not happening every time it just started and I looked for tranny threads but I didn't find I was looking for.

Needing help with tranny .....
Hey Jens916, for better responses to help with your tranny problems......I'd suggest posting the problem in a separate new thread. State the model and year of your TL, along with a description of the main issue. List the mileage and any PM performed to the tranny, such as things like fluid level and condition, mounts, etc. Also, if the tranny was replaced under recall and fluid's been changed.

200k and running strong
I have a 1999 Acura TL, I'm the 3rd owner. The odometer on my TL just turned over @ 205,000 miles, I'm getting ready to do a full timing belt and water pump service, Spark plugs, Thermostat and Pcv valve.....Great car and very dependable

Now have about 207,000. New trans replaced at 100,000 under warrenty, timing belt at 116,000. Probably be the last time it is replaced. Nothing else replaced other than brakes, tires, rotors.
I change the oil every 5,000, and do a 3 qt trans change every 30,000.
Gave the car to my son, still looks great and runs perfect. Garage kept really helps !!!

Currently 238k
Threw a rod in the original engine @ 219k, so replaced with a relatively low-mileage motor.
Roughly a week after putting the new motor in, the transmission died too Pulled a *used* tranny from local salvage yard for cheap, and got cheap results. About a year later, that one gave out, so I spared no expense and installed a completely rebuilt '99 4speed at 230k.
Currently 238k on body, 108k on motor and 8k on transmission

Just got to 220K all original miles except transmission.
214k - AV6 Swap
So I am now 6000 miles into the AV6 with no hiccups! loving the extra oomp and better city mileage.

I guess I haven't posted here yet, 218K on my TL-S. 10K so far on AV6 tranny.
My only complaint right now is my seat squeaks quite a bit when shifting around in it. Tried lubing up some parts but still squeaking. It's embarrassing when giving other people a ride. I'll probably end up tearing the whole thing down and lubing everything I find.

I'm at 248k, bought it for $600 about 5k ago with a million problems. Installed about $350 worth of parts and its going to go another 200k no problem. Very reliable car, minus the trans.

Hit 210k today..was at 209729 here. Still no problems here just have followed the maintence schedule. I do change the tranny fluid every 15k when I change oil because I drive it hard sometimes but this clutch is original and I still cant get it to slip.

'01 bought new. Just this weekend replacing front struts for first time. Tranny went out at 135K. I need to do timing belt, only been replaced once thus far. Also just replaced serpentine belt yesterday. Car started to over heat in traffic. Been a great car!
