Exclamation 2004 TL, Latest 411 From Import Tuner Magazine!

TOPIC: ACURA CONCEPT TL. " At april's new york auto show, acura showed this concept TL that previews the styling themes of the next-generation 2004 TL sedan coming next year. the nonrunning styling display isn't exactly the next TL, but it's close. and it's expected the themes established by this car will carry across the acura range eventually. the proportions of the concept TL are determined by forcing the wheels to the far edges of the car and out to the edge of the flared fenders. the windshield is more aggressively raked than before and the tailights are LED units. the HID headlights, one acura insider confided, " look frickin' hot." they say words like " frickin' " at acura. certain features on the concept TL are unlikely to make it into production, like the side-view video cameras, 19 in wheels, high pressure air windshield cleaners in place of wipers and four-piston Brembro brakes. what is coming will be the first use of DVD audio in a car- bluetooth wireless connectivity with consumer electronic devices and standard XM radio. acura isn't talking about drivetrains in the 2004 TL yet, either, but we expect the 3.2 liter VTEC V6 will still be aboard with output steaming to about 280 hp to distance the car from it's once and future brother, the honda accord." that's it for now!??? hope this was informative. steve... p.s. acura first used the word frikin' when some guy at corporate said " what the hell is happening to all of our FRIKIN' TRANNY'S!!! :p

280-HP for front wheel drive??? That would be torque-steer heaven.

I was at my dealer yesterday test driving the MDX and TSX. I asked what he knew about the new TL. He told me that the new TL will be in showrooms in October. It is his understanding the it will have a 3.0 liter engine that puts out 260hp. He has not heard anything about a Type-S model yet.

He said that it might go through a name change as well to fit into the new naming scheme at Acura. Look for it to be called the TLX.

I can't verify the accuracy of any of this so take it for what it is worth.

if that's the case then my guess is that acura is not going to sell any tl, look at this way, why would ppl want to purchase a 04 tl when the old tl has the bigger liter engine??

260hp doesn't mean you'll have major torque steer... these cars have some HP, but low torque. a 300hp Cadillac STS has torque steer, but even in that car it's no big deal.
