2003 TLs still have trans problems?

I am thinking about buying a 2003 TL and I like the car, but when I read about all the transmission problems I get concerned. So concerned I am considering not buying an Acura as a result.

Does anyone know if the 2003 model still have transmission problems?

Somebody told me they fixed the problem on cars made after June 2002. Does any body know if that is true?

Has anyone with a 2003 TL had transmission problems?

I have an '03 TLS, no problems with that and I do my bills on the net and when you log in to pay the car it will tell you if your cars has a recall or not. So far none on mine. Hope it helps.

The salesman I spoke to (met him outside of the dealership). Said the 03s only have the 4 yr 50K warranty.

Not true because I have an 03 TLS and I am covered under the 7/100k mile tranny warranty. Some are covered and I am sure Acura would cover any 03 with a tranny failure.

I have a pre-June 2002 built 03TLS and had my tranny die and replaced so take that for what its worth. I've heard rumors about the tranny being fixed but who knows for sure. I also haven't heard of any later 03s failing either (CL or TL).

Most '03's are not afftected. Some are. Depends on your VIN. Call your Acura service department to find out. If your VIN is among those affected, you should have gotten a letter from Acura about this.

What he said

Only the very early production 2003 models were affected, which is why those have the 7yr/100k powertrain warranty and the new ones do not.
