2003 Tls To Be Based On The New Accord Platform???
All right guys ... that's what I heard. The '03 TLS is going to be based on the NEW '03 Accord platfrom. With increased horsepower, various external and internal refinements. So is this a fact? No, but its from whom I consider to be a credible source.
What I do know for sure is that there will be an all-new platform for the Accord in 2003 (end of the 5 year cycle). I'd have thought Acura would have waited a year before jumping onto a new platfrom, especially with the Type S having debuted earlier this year. But apparently that may not be the case.
Has anyone heard anything else on this.

Actually, I haven't heard anything like that at all. I have heard that the '03 will remain basically unchanged (a couple of little changes like the '02 CL had) and in 2003 the new redesigned TL will come out as a 2004 model. We've also got confirmation from dealers that there's no 6-speed for the TL-S for the '03 model, at least nothing yet. I don't think you'll see anything like this happen until the '04 model....too soon. It would piss off too many Acura loyalists.... especially since the TL is one of Acura's best selling lines......

Hmmmm ... maybe more details will start trickling in as we get closer to the major auto shows in Jan & Feb. One thing's for sure .. if the new TL & TLS are in fact based on the new Accord platform with hp/trannie/sheetmetal/interior enhancements Honda's done a great job of keeping this under wraps. Talk about being blind sided ;-) Looks like Honda & Nissan are in the middle of a major horsepower war.
