I am new to this forum and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I purchased a my 2003 TL S in July of last year and on the way home I noticed a fluttering noise. Ended up having one of the wheels balanced and that decreased the flutter, but still was disatisifed with the ride. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was supposed to be that way, they did offer to let me trade for an RL, but that was more than I wanted to spend.

I have tolerated this for the past year (I was especially jealous when my husband purchased a Toyota 4Runner and it rode better than my car). I have since had a tire problem and had to replace a tire (8700 miles on the car) and the flutter has become more severe and is awful.


I have previously owned a '97 CL and a '01 CL Type S and both were excellent cars. This is really bugging me and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and what did they do to correct it?

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, I guess your name isn't exactly "Gary," either!

Third, let me ask a few boring questions:
- Have you tried test driving another '03 TL-S to see if it makes a similar noise? Maybe it's just the way those crappy Michelins sound. (I've changed mine to Toyo Proxes.)
- What kind of tires did your CL's have? Same as TL?
- What is your tire pressure set to for all 4 tires?
- I'm not sure what a "fluttering" noise sounds like... but does the noise increase or decrease at different times? If so, when?
- Does the noise change when you rotate your tires?

Sorry 'bout all the questions... just tryin' to gather some more data.
