hey does anyone know if any tuning company will be coming out with a chip for our car??
i would love to get some extra hp through to ecu,
i see that almost all other cars except us have it
does anyone know why?

 

I'm not too sure this is going to happen. The CL Type-S has been out since March of 2000 and there's still no chip. That's not a good sign. Our car is basically a 4-door CL, so we would benefit from a CL chip. I believe on forum member from acl.com got a V6 Accord chip from Jetchip to work, but it cost extra money to get it working, and he lived near Jetchip, so they did the work. Other then that, I haven't seen anything about a chip....

 

A chip is the very last thing anyone should ever get on their cars if you dont have a turbo whose boost is controlled by the ECU ala A4/S4, etc. On our cars the gains woudl be minimal, and I have heard of many many more people having problems like check engine lights being set off, and also having their cars perform worse or no differently at all after spending hundreds on the ECU, and more for dyno testing/tuning. Also if you do have a check engine light or some other computer problem, good luck to you because your warranty is now bye-bye.

My advice is stay away, the money for an ECU mod will give you more gains if you spent it on an intake or pullies.

 

here's the scoop....one person on acl does have a jet chip but would not dyno his car...as near as we can tell a piggy back chip will not work as our ecu will just adjust for the changes...completly new chips are unavailable....so whats left a whole new ecu like the AEM EMS 1700$ wow...or weapon R is supposed to have something soon for less but its been months since leo was asking for crank trigger info to complete his unit and we have yet to hear anything on that....good luck...
