2003 TL takes longer to start than 2000 Accord V6
A few months ago, I gave my 2000 Accord EX-V6, with over 173K (but well maintained and running strong) to my mom after I got my 2003 TL. The 2003 TL had about 29K on it when I got it.
I noticed that when I start the TL, it takes about three times as much cranking as the Accord. The Accord had a 3.0L V6 and it ALWAYS started up with the quickest turn of the key. The TL takes a while of cranking before it starts (1-2 seconds).
Is this normal? Is it because the TL has a high compression engine?
BTW, the factory stereo in the Accord blows the Bose TL stereo out of the water. Replacing all the speakers, and maybe adding some to the rear deck, is on my list of thing to do soon.

Nope is not normal.. The TL should start well within a Second and a half or LOWER.
Anything above 1.5 seconds is a warning of something going bad, 2-3 seconds? GTFO! and get to a mechanic..
And how exactly blows the BOSE stereo out of the water? Im curious the BOSE isn't any great but Ive heard stock OEM non-Bose Crap from Honda and is hilariously bad... Seriously.. You can crank the volume SURE! But Mids and Lows aren't there is just clean and pure crap coming out from them.

My mother-in-law was the first and only owner before me. It mainly sat in the garage with the occasional trip to the mall. She took it in for scheduled maintenance at the recommended times (knowing her, probably sooner than recommended), so I know it was very well taken care of. I haven't looked through the service records in detail, but I have them all.

Sounds to me like you might have a clogged fuel injector. You may be cranking because of lack of fuel and not spark. I'd recommend you get to Autozone or somewhere and pick up some new plugs and some good fuel cleaner such as seafoam. I use it all the time on my TL and it's got 270K miles on it. No starter problems here! Try the seafoam or lucas fuel cleaner first and if it persists you may want to at least check your plugs and see if they're gummed up. Not uncommon for a car with such low miles of that age.

My battery is on its last leg so that might be the reason, it does start right up after the fuel pump prime.

Yeah, the Immobilizer security set-up requires a few more milleseconds to read the key's transponder chip.
What a brain fart !!!

Another thing is an old worn out starter, As crazy as it sounds they mess with the reading of the crank sensors on start up. They may still crank the engine and sound ok.
