2003 TL-S tranny

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new 2003 Acura TL Type S a couple of weeks ago.
I love the car so far, but I have been reading about alot of tranny problems. The car I purchased was built in June, 2003. Will I have tranny problems with this car as many people have in the past, or has the manufacturer corrected their problems in the later built cars? Also, what are the symptons and problems that the tranny exhibits?

Thanks all,
Don

I read somewhere that the fix was in place about mid '03 model year. You could check the "ownerlink" web site under recalls or call your dealer. They can look up you VIN# and let you know.

Open the driver's door and look at the decal on the lower right door jam and see when it was build. The date is in the upper right part of the white decal. If it was build after 02/2003 then I wouldn't worry about it, it has all the updated internals from the factory. The earlier it was made (say, every 6 months or so) the more there is a liklyhood of it to go bad.
