Exclamation 2003 TL-S: Air Condtioning stopped suddenly.

On my lunch break right now and I started the car, turned on the AC to medium/high and everything was fine. 30 seconds later it just stopped blowing air out regardless of the setting. Everything lights up and works except that.

Any ideas to what is causing this? All help is greatly appreciated!

Blower motor connector is toast...

Common problem in our cars. Wire going to the blower motor gets hot and melts the terminal. You can get a replacement harness (its like $12 if I remember right).

Look under the dash on the passenger side and look for the blower motor and see if the connector is burned. If so thats your problem and needs to be replaced.

sounds like we all need to take the connection apart and install some dielectric grease!!
Prevent corrosion and cuts down temp

Anyone else hop in and put the ac on fresh - fan 5 and off you go?

Kris, Tom...no mention of fuses? I assume this is a common problem on the 2nd gen TL's, but shouldn't I check the specific fuses first?

Which ones are they, under hood or drivers side, passenger side?

Thanks for all the help as always.

no- its usually the electrical connector that runs the fan-gets too hot and melts- wires crisp etc,,but doesnt blow a fuse Doh!
easy to look and see it... you can tell if a wire thing is hanging loose in a charred mess
Kris says look under passenger side of dash, I just know its on the mounting plate for the fan--
check the diy on cabin filter replacement- might be pics of damaged connections in there

Were you doing other work in there recently?
No power at the connector now?
What was its condition?

im having the same problem wire that plugs into blower is fried ....i unplugged the wires and pulled out the blower motor and was examining it ...found a lot of dust all over the fan blades and after using using a air gun to clean the insides got a huge load of crap out of it ....not tested the motor with battery and motor ran smoothly .......did any body else find a bunch of crap in the blower motor could that be the cause of mine over heating and melting the wires

do the cabin air filter diy, and after filter removal you see the blower motor- its held in place by a few screws- take the entire plate and motor out to inspect the back side too

its common to find crud in there- you are supposed to replace the cabin filter every year and vac out the leaves and debris found at that time
