2002 TL Type S ---> 2004 TL Compensation

Hi all,

I just found this forum yesturday and was hoping someone out there had some info.

I own a 2002 Acura TL Type-S...Silver, Ebony.......bought it May 2001.....and yes I have had more problems then I bargained for...

Since '01 I have put 71,000 miles on the car for business travel......I have replaced the following:

2 Transmissions (Warranty) - on my third and praying daily
1 Computer (Recall) - ?
6 Tires (Non-warranty) - damn potholes in NYC
2 Headlights (1x-Warranty,1x-Insurance) - one stolen, one broken
1 Window Control Box (Recall) - ?

and yes it eats fuel like a B2 bomber.......

I certainly do not plan to own this car a day after the Ext. tranny warranty runs out....which on my pace will by 10 months away.

I went to my dealer to look at the 2004 TL....what a awesome car........now here is the question......has anyone been given some sort of compensation from Acura America when purchasing a new car for all these problems? I know that I am not the only person that has gone through this. I assume just for thinking about buying another $35,000 car from them they should give me something!!!!

Seems to me you have had no problems with the car except tranny issues. The other issues are caused by you. Why blame the car?

I'm like you in that I'm not going to keep the car past warranty. I wonder how bad the resale on these things will be once they are past warranty and no more Acura to pay for these failing trannies? Other than the tranny problems, there's nothing I don't like about the car....well, maybe the paint and the finish on the wheels could be better.

No problems since May 2001 for me. I drive hard every day and the transmission is holding up pretty well. Good luck and sorry to hear about your problems, but I don't think Acura's going to give you money to buy a new TL. It's not like you're trying to buy an Infiniti or something. Plus, the new TLs are selling too well.

on our '03 tls-a we've got about 14,000kms
drive the car daily and moderately
get between 10.5-11.5L/100km (which is pretty damned good for a 3.2LV6 260hp)
have had no problems so far (knocks on wood).

i love the car, and would probably get another.

couldn't decide between the old and new '04, i find the front looks too much like a grand prix.
