seriously considering trading in my 2002 tl type s (40k mi) to pay a fat portion of a new g35's cost. on paper the g35s better in terms of performance, but the reason im sorta holding back and love my current car is becasue tl is so practical, spacious, and powerful in once package. reliability is also an issue for me. honda is known to have good, solid reliable products (transmission problems or not), while nissan is known to be the chrysler of japan. so i dont know, some opinions from you guys would be helpful, although i expect alot of "keep your tl" replies

Infiniti reliability is just as good as lexus. You should read the current JD power and associates reviews and studies. And consumer ratings and reliability statistics. Acura is the one that actually falls behind. I traded my 03Tl-S for a g35 coupe and i have had no problems whatsoever. Service is top notch (worthy of a luxury brand) and so is build quality. Performance and handling are far more superior than the TL-S. I was a hardcore acura fan but as of right now, acura has nothing that impresses me. I bought the G35 and never looked back.

If you possibly could, I would hold out for a 2005 G35. They announced last week that they are bumping the G35s HP from 260 to 277 for 2005. They should be on sale in a few months. If you spring for the 04 now, you'll be kicking yourself this Fall. IMHO This is all assuming that you are staying with the 4 door.....

If you are getting the coupe hold off until the '05 model. He has a the '04 and if you think your TL has trans problems, he has 10k on his car and 3 trans's. The shifting is terrible with the manual trans. It is supposed to be fixed by next years model, so wait... u don't want another car w. a shoddy trans.

No issues whatsover with G35 AT tranny, ROCK SOLID.. The tranny can hold 350hp easy!!

Now the 6speed has a few wierd issues and customer complaints but it's being re-designed for 05.
