Damn, I had very detailed instructions emailed to me, but they were to my work email and I no longer work at that place.
Basically, from what I remember, you have to lift the baby attachment cap and take off the bolt using a socket wrench. Then, very carefully with a screwdriver, stick the screwdriver underneath the cover and pop the cover up starting in the back and working your way forward. It takes a little force to get it to pop up. I also remember something about having to slide it towards you for final removal. Not sure if you pop first and then take off the bolt, or take off the bolt and then pop. But reading how you said "close to the seat it seemed to be attached", leads me to believe the only thing holding you back is having to undo the bolt.
Sorry if the details are scetchy, but it's been over a year since I had to take mine off to tint it.
