[QUOTE=CP13;15732830]Are you handy yourself? Ever crossed your mind of performing a DIY?
I'm vey handy but have no tools. Do you think if I take what needs to be done to a local mechanic step by step it will be easy for them?

There's really no special tool required for the job, except maybe an improvised platform jack to catch/support the tranny when removing/installing it to the engine and the big 36mm(?) socket for the axle nut...
Any shop/mechanic can perform this type of job... the only question is, are they willing to do it... the caveat is most shops are by the book and won't install the AV6 in the Acura since they will claim that it does not work... The job itself is no different that any other transmission remove/replace procedure except for swapping some of the components form the Acura transmission to the AV6... but even that should be very easy...
air tools will make the job easier and faster, but some bolts are in such a tight space that you will end up using your hand tools anyway... plus, I would discourage you from using an impact gun when you're tightening the bolts down...
Labor here in Northern Virginia should be no more than $500 as an "on the side" labor... I would imagine actual shops may charge a little more... according to most labor guide books, doing a transmission R/R is actually a 6 hour job. or less for a very experienced person... so at a rate of $60 labor/hr, you're looking at $360 total plus fluids, and misc. parts...

There's a pdf writeup on the AV6 FAQ thread... if you cannot locate it, let me know and I will find the one I downloaded...
Once you see the actual parts that needs to be swapped from the transmission, it is very straightforward... for mine, I decided to keep the oil jet kit from the TL transmission to the AV6... this is also a good time to replace your axle seals, torque conv. Seal, and rear main seal.. theres also a gasket that you can only buy from the dealership that goes on the oil cooler mount... all the part numbers for the seals you may need is listed in my thread...
