Question 2000 Acura 3.2TL Question

Hi, I have a question to ask you guys who know alot about cars...I may purchase a 2000 Acura 3.2TL with 61,000 miles on it...I talked to the person about the car and she said the car drives good but after it driving it for a while that it shifts hard and stuff...She said it might be something with the transmission...So I called Acura up and they said it wasn't covered by the warranty because its voided because of a salvage title....I don't know what a salvage title is or anything..I though it would have been a good deal because even I called around and got quotes on transmissions and the highest was $2000...So I'm figuring I'll be spending about $8000 on a car which I thought was a good deal...If you guys can help me and let me know if this is a good deal or no...The person said it drives good and stuff but If I was to buy it, I would bring a mechanic with me and have them look at it and stuff..The car looks great..The person is the 2nd owner of the car...Any help would be appreciated...

Read this thread before you go about purchasing a car with a salvaged title.

https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/go-purdue-165203/

It's never as good a deal as it sounds.

Make sure your state requires Carfax reporting. Texas doesn't, so it isn't done here but dealers and private sellers will still give them out like candy on Halloween because most people don't know it. False sense of security. I certainly wouldn't buy another salvaged car unless it was strictly going to be a beater. $8k doesn't seem like a beater price.

Look around, you should be able to find one with out a salvaged title and a working trans for close to that price (and still have warranty on a trans) To get a good trans i wouldnt go with a trans rebuilt from the dealer with all the latest updates.

I have seen some around the $9000 price range....I was just thinking it was a good deal because it had very low miles and plus I can get close to $5500 in my hands probably..Thanks though I really appreciate your help..

Eeesh, I'd stay away and look for another one that is in better condition with the extended tranny warranty available.

Keep up the search, there's one out there for you, and the cars are well worth it.

Another story of someone who buys salvage cars at auction- there are special "all salvage auctions" -for 500$ a car and does the min. to make it run- then sells for $8000 retitiled

They had to call you back about the accident lol-
you could have turned blue waiting for that call !!!!
they wanted to sell it to someone who didnt belong to Acurazine
Score another 1 for the members!!!

Other things to good to be true: 15$ d/s rotors with pads! no noise!!! No dust!!
---- Lifetime Guarantee -does not apply if car totaled due to brakes!

Yeah, you almost have to be a member here to keep from getting totally screwed. No one wants a truly educated customer.
