20,000 miles...

a few had passed it already...but here I am celebrating my TLS's 20k miles!

and a fat ticket to go with it too...I was pulled over...ah...let's just say the cop said and I quote "I tried to catch up with you for the last 5 minutes!"

Any problems big or small, or still, A OK? Going to have 10K and all is well here. Had the moon roof adjusted for a rattle when the oil was changed, no biggy. By far the best sedan I ever had.

How the hell did you manage to take that picture?! You must of had only a second to press the reset button before taking a shot, and if using a digicam...then even longer. Either way, I'm around 19,500, but I dont think I'll be able to pull a stunt like that one once I hit 20k. As for me, so far so good. Only a squeeky seatbelt buckle that popped up a few hundred miles or so. What speed did you get ticketed at?

yep, although I'm sure yee would definitely start pulling away from me on the miles because I recently just got laid off. Hmmm...on the good side, no commute...yay?

ah...I think my license's gonna be suspended....so...

I think 4 or 5 people are ahead of me in this forum...

actually, it wasn't that tough to take the picture...the odo stays at 20,000 for 1 mile..duh... and I have 0.1 mile to take the pic once I reset it...my dig cam is quite decent, so it was quick to snap.

a Mustang almost hit me when he cut into my lane...I tried to catch up...when I did..the unmark car came up from behind, pulled me over...and let the Mustang go...he claimed that he was not aware that the Mustand was speeding...#x#@(*&...

like I said...I thought the Mustand almost hit me...but the fact is that he did!!! there's now a scratch on the front right side of my bumper. I guess the rub was so light that I didn't feel it when I was driving

btw, I happened to take the picture cuz my camera was....I've driven faster than that...oh, I was driving alone...

the picture was taken before the Mustang hit me...or me trying to catch up with the Mustang...whichever way you see it...

the officer mark me down for "120+"

I was only doing 75-80 when the officer caught up with me and pulled me over

have to go to court...I'm gonna be honest with the judge, cuz I don't think I did right...but I'm quite certain that I did not hit over 120 trying to catch up with the Mustang...110 at most.

the officer said I must be doing 120+ because he was driving at 120 and he couldn't catch up with me...I think he used his radar, but was unable to indicate that my car was speeding...and I'm sure that I was not in his sight for a while...until I caught up with the Mustang and slowed down.

I've got 27000 and it's parked in my garage waiting for it's 3rd tranny. I'd probably have close to 30000 if it hadn't been in the shop so much.

When you are going fast, it does not seem like such a big deal.

When you see the speed in WRITING, it looks like a big deal.

When you "hear" the speed in the courtroom, it IS a big deal.

Good luck, hopefully you'll get them on a good day. Be polite and contrite.

now i am not trying to be anal here, but this is what i think. saying you driving over 100 is really bad, coz' the penalty is really bad. i would admit myself driving at 9x, but not 110 or so. if he wasn't able to record your speed using the radar then that means he has no hard proof on how fast you were driving. he could say all what he wants on him driving at 120, but in cali they always need proofs to charge you, unless you admit what you have done.

that's exactly the reason why i never drive faster than 100 on i5, damn lots of planes up there, and at the same time all those unmarks chp around.......

Is you say you were speeding, but not 120, I bet they will just give you the 120Mph ticket! This is America, they have to prove it, say you are sure you were not going 120, and stick to that, as its truth, and your not shooting yourself. So as you admit wrong, even to a less degree, they will just stick you for it.

Sir the mustang hit me and sped off, and I was speeding up to get his license plate number. I did not get the plate number because I got pulled over.

actually...that was pretty much what had happened...except I didn't know he'd hit me well after...I actually caught up and looked at his license plate from behind...tried to remember it....then pulled up next to the Mustang trying to see that guy's face...then the cop came up from behind and pulled me over...and so I forgot the plate number...

Sounds like you already have a valid story...just dont admit to the speed you were going.

yup, do not ever admit the speed you going. tell the judge you were chasing that car to get the licence plate coz' it was a hit and run, and show picture of the damage on your car. tell him you sincerely don't think you were going at speed any higher than 100, and you ONLY did that to try to get the plate number. also, if you think it's ok, tell them that you were trying to call 911 for assist but reception was bugging (i notice that reception is pretty bad on i5 sometimes).

i guess the bottom line is deny you were going that fast (over 100) and you were trying to chase after a hit and run guy. you really got your car for damage claim!!! (and no need to mention the fact that you didn't know your car was hit until later).

if you are found guilty for over 100, it's very big trouble. if you are under 100, at most you are fined for certain amount. but if you are over 100 you get all sorts of trouble including licence suspension. and depending how much the judge trust you you could get even better.
