Question 2 Questions: Tranny Dieing? and Coated or Uncoated?

Two questions for you TL guru’s:

1) Reading all the posts here about TL tranny failures may have me oversensitive about my car, but I’ve been noticing something weird. Sometimes, during normal cruising (35-45 mph), at random times, my tranny will upshift too soon and the engine gets bogged down (car shakes and the rev’s drop to near idle levels). When I give it more gas the tranny will downshift after a bit, and all’s well again. I’ve only had the car for a year (it’s a 00 TL-P with about 47K) and this has probably happened a dozen times. Is this just a fluke thing or an early warning of something ugly ahead?

2) Are the stock 16” (not the normal 5 spoke ones, the other ones - dealer option, that have multiple smaller spokes) coated, or just plain aluminum? I'd like to know because some wheel cleaners are for a particular type of wheel, and aren't safe for the other type.

Thanks!

2 answers-
1) no clue but it doesn't sound good

2) the wheels have a clear coat on them just like the paint so use whatever car wax you have and shine em up.

the tranny doesnt semt to have the normal symptom of dieing. it sounds like it wants to go into 5th but its just too slow for it. if your driving consits of alot of that speed you should try to put it into D4 instead of D5. the biggest symptom of a bad tranny is between 1-2 shifts and/or 2-3 shifts it is a delayed shift (kinda like a slipping clutch).

as for the wheels they are clear coated

What about a rough shift up from 1-2 and 2-3. Is that any indication? Dosn't feel like its slipping, but you can definetly feel the shifts.
