2 Day Oil Change

Got my oil changed at the dealer a few weeks ago and noticed the milage dropped about 3 mpg, so I looked at my invoice and saw that the dealer used 10W30 oil.

Went in yesterday to get it changed to 5W20 only to find out that the shop did not have any 5W20 or 5W30 oil at all, so the car had to sit in the shop until today because they had already removed the oil.

When I picked it up today I could tell that the car would coast further then it did with the wrong oil, like it did when it was new.

Hope the mpg goes back to where it was?

Heard couple message that if the dealer doesn't have the 5w-20. It would either put 5w-30 or 10w-30.

Next time when I do the oil change I'll make sure my dealer had the 5w-20 oil.

At least you got it resolved. Did they give you naything for the trouble?

I've checked with my dealer and they actually display the 5w-20 Honda and 5w-30 Mobil 1 at the parts counter. I guess that means they keep it around. Since my oil change is coming up I should check to make sure they use the right stuff when I get it done.

I never realized that oil viscosity could make such a big difference. Wow.

No they just changed it for free and gave me a loaner.

Yeah, I had no idea oil would make that much difference.

I use Mobil 1 in my TLS and it made no difference in the MPG. I think you must of had some other factor that changed the MPG.

No way the oil affects MPG to that extent if at all- think about it - the EPA ratings are the same for the 01 and 02!
