Post 18" or 17"

Hi people, I had my TL for a while, but as I was driving today, saw exactly the same car (Black 2000, maybe 2001) with nice looking mods. Hmm.. and i suddenly got this urge to do the exactly same. First i thing i wanna do is put new wheels and tires, What you guys think i should put on?

It all depends on how much $$$ you have and how much you are willing to spend.

I have 17s on my TL. But since my TL is lowered 3", a lot of people told me it looks like 18s.

Most people will say 18's but there will ne less meat between them and the road. If your in it for looks, go with 18's. If you are in it for comfort and longevity, go with 17. I hit a pothole a few weeks ago that shook my teeth and then I saw what happened when Arn2000TL's 18's blew out from a crater at the NJ meet.

I said NO WAY, 17's are fine for me.

19s! The ride quality isn't that bad really... it makes me drive slower, got the whole gangsta lean going on. So you drive slower in general and slower over bumps and its not all the noticeable. The thing is to always be paying attention. IMO, it is very worth it for the 19s! I should've gotten 20s! Get 17s you'll wish you had 18s, get 18s you'll wish you had 19s.

I agree with everyone on this. It really depends on your taste. If you like the show, go for big. If you like comfort, go for small.

I personally got 18 cuz I thought 17 would be too small. But I sorta regret it cuz now that I have low profile tires, I can't drive as carelessly as I could before. I have to watch out for every friggin pothole there is on the road. And trust me, there are MANY in Los Angeles. So, if you want carefree driving, go with 17's. If you don't mind always being alert, then go with 18's. IMHO 19's are a bit too big for my taste.

See, so if you're going to have to be careful anyway, why not just go 19s and be extra flossin careful!?

I went with 17's and factory, I did not want to compromise the ride very much, hence my decision. I love the look of 18's & 19's though and it's just a matter of what you like.
