160,000mi what now??

I just got handed down to me my dads 99' with 160,000 mi. He never drove it hard(never gone over 90mph). Hes done all the tune ups, and taken preety much good care of the engine for someone who is a complete retard on the subject of cars. I was wondering wether doing some performance mods(CAI, Headers, pully,S/P,exhaust) would be ok, or just a waste? Thanks Jim

awesome dude! yeah these cars last pratically forever if taken care of....

you can start by chroming your shift plate if you like that look....that's an easy mod to do yourself...just spray some grafitti remover on it and let it sit for a few mins and wipe off.....it wont give you more than 1 or 2 hp though....

post up some pics if ya can

I think the list of mods for a 99 should start off like this....

1. Chrome Shift Plate (LOVE IT!!!)
2. Intake
3. Upgraded HU to play CD's

then start adding the expensive stuff...

Yup...I totally agree. That is the only reason I can't wait for my lease to expire. I'm sick of the tranny problems, and sick of Honda not admitting to having a big problem with the 5 speed AT.

Anyways...as I said before, this is my second and last acura...I'll be sticking around though...no worries..

LOLOLOL "It feels like a mini-van." hahahaha... I've NEVER heard that one before! Yea... maybe you should upgrade your shocks. Mine doesn't feel like a mini-van yet, but then again I dont drive it like I did when it had 60K on it. I baby it so it will last me a long time!!!

160K is quite a few miles... You have to make the decision now if you want a new car or just start modding the hell out of it... The car is paid off so it is yours to play with. The 99 trannies just missed the recall so you are fine there. Start with the headers if you can afford them, if not just do a CAI. Then go where you feel the car needs it. I started with suspension... hint hint! most of all have fun!

dang man...dont you think your playing with fire now? have you done anything else other than your tranny...I mean alternator, or any other maintenance more than the minor stuff?

how is the P/P going? When you do that, are you just trying to clean them up, you arent taking any metal out are you? would that throw something off?

im not worried in the least about the timing belt. ive been around hondas my whole life, and i havent had one fail yet. its not old enough in my opinion. mileage has very littel to do with it. its age that destroys the rubber. ill get around to it this year. ill probably do it when i (once i order) the UR crank and other belts. (do every thing all at once)

as for the P/P i took a little metal out not much. most of it was just smoothing out. when i have a full day to remove the lower manifold, ill take more metal out and port match every thing

oh and other than the tranny, i havent done a thing to the car yet. nothen has broken or needed any maint
