150,000 maintenance?
I will be approaching 150,000 miles by the end of this month. I would like to know what my fellow 2GTL members would recommend for my 2000 TL. I have already completed some daunting task such as; cooling system fluid exchange, brake fluid exchange, replaced battery, spark plugs, coilpack, valve adjustment & egr port clean, timing belt package, hydraulic adjuster, right side engine mount, new rotors and pads, also transmission fluid exchange not 3x3. Thinking about doing the 3x3 tho. Any feedback or input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Kris

No need to keep bumping the thread You pretty much said every thing that needs to be done. 01tl4tl recommended the other things that i would look at.

You should change the Engine Air Filter fairly often the way it is (all depending on miles you drive and conditions you drive in and should be inspected every oil change). Change the cabin filter, and the external trans filter on your 3x3

you already did a ` trans service/not 3x3` so you did 1 3 qt drain and refill with honda fluid?
Used the new stuff?
with 60kmiles on your rebuilt trans, I would do a 3x3 with the new honda fluid or redline atf then 3 qts once a year/15kmiles
filters, see the DIY section or ask dealer parts for the external trans filter,
and diy cleaning trans selenoids
Cabin air filter from parts store- antibacterial or odor control added are better `In my opinion`- approx 20 bucks for 2 in a box- you need 1 `box` for the job
You did all the other things we would suggest= before you started this thread
Accept your job well done... and look at the few remaining items

I told my mechanic to clean my tranny selenoids and he was hesitant and said he never done it before etc. but he said he would do it anyway. He said there is no filter in there, its a screen right? Maybe I didn't explain to throughly to him...

print him the DIY for selenoids and EXTERNAL filter -if applicable
what year is your TL?
ck DIY for more trans service info
Yes the `new stuff` is made by honda,,they are phasing out the zr-whatever stuff we used before

you would do yourself and the car a favor by using a honda specialty shop- not the dealer,, but a place that does honda and acura all day long
Your guy does not know the TL
better someone familiar with the job- so the correct procedures are followed and the right amount of fluid goes in etc

you can buy new selenoids--most of us try DIY cleaning to save money
if your plan is to replace the entire 7.4 qts the trans actually holds- it will take 3 times in a row with 5 minute drive between each draining- using each gear up and down manually shifting-- to circulate the fluid and push crud and old fluid towards the drain point,,over 3 qts is in the torque convertor at any given time and cant drain out,,,must flow out with system operation
any drains done more than 5 minutes drive apart: is draining very well mixed fluid, new and old,,but not just/mostly old
to get old fluid out,,even your recent 3,,a real 3x3 is needed..thats the 7 1/2 qts plus some extra to get as much as possible out from hiding spots and to the drain
to do it per the book is 12 qts,,you do an initial drain and refill- then start the driving and drain
Thats only required if you ever put dextron3 atf in the trans--must remove totally!!
