105 service - bay area
Hi everyone,
New member here, living in east bay. I have a 2000 TL with 110k.
I recently had my timing belt, water pump & valves adjusted for $2000 at a local bay area Acura dealership. I thought that was expensive, but I wanted it done right so I paid.
I was then told my spark plugs would need to be changed and was quote $320 for the job, plus $350 for the 105 service. After quick research on this forum, I bought the NGK plugs for $6/each and installed for $85. Total out of pocket $130.
So I'm wondering what exactly is invovled in the 105 service that would warrant $350 in service?
If I was to goto a local shop (non-dealer) and ask them to do the 105 service, what exactly would I need them to do?
Possibly related, but I have a new tranny with about 25-30k on it. When will I need to do the tranny fluid?
Thank you all,
Rob

Welcome to Acurazine! Do a search as most of the time your question has already been answered. But to answer your question....
You already did the 105K service (belt, pump, valves, etc.). I don't know what else they want to charge you for because for $2000, they should've already done everything!

Thanks, I'm near useless on this searching.
Where do I find what needs to be done on the service schedule? I'm thinking of combining 105+125.

Thank you Gfaze, I've just signed up for ahm-ownerlink too.
I'm going to get a quote from a local import shop to get both of these services done together. Seems like most of it is just 'inspecting'.

A proper 105 will cover everything- and private shops take a little more time and interest in your car and its care. Stop by and look for thank you letters on the wall
Tell them you want it to run solid another 100k
should run you about 1200

since I had the valves, t-belt and water pump done at the dealership. This service will be done by import service in el cerito this week for about $200. I'm going to have them replace the a/c belt and tensioner which is cover in the 120 service but with the miles we're putting on that'd only be another 3 months.

my ac tensioner went at 80k, not bad considering it made noise for 20k before that!
Normally I would say do Seafoam BEFORE all the service so the valves are clean and get adjusted perfect, but you should be fine-
do some now in the intake vac line and gas. Next time you change the oil run some in the engine

I answered that in detail on your other thread asking why to use seafoam
Its going to help- its 7 bucks a can- get 2
Why Because gasoline is expensive
