1/4 mile times
Hey guys i finally took my TL to the track last week for the first time. now before you all make fun of my time, realise that i live at 6200 feet above sea level the temperature was really high about 86 degrees my first 2 runs i used the sport shift mode. when in SS mode the computer will shift the transmission from 1st to 2nd just before redline. i got 2 runs with a time of 16.9 then i decided to manualy shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd using the shift selector and was able to push the engine to hold 1st gear a little longer. i got my best time using this method.
R/T .663
60' 2.578
330 7.148
1/8 10.821
MPH 76.17
1000 13.973
1/4 16.655
MPH 84.61
i think with a little cooler temps i might be able to get a 16.4
what kind of times do you guys usually get at sea level and does anyone have before and after results at a track with comptec headers?

Hmmm, I never thought about shifting manually like that. I'll try that next time. Down here (only couple hundred ft above sea level) I ran my best time of 15.69 with the mods listed in my sig using D5. This is not a before and after, but DragonTL, who has AEM intake and CT headers was consistently running about .3 sec faster than I was down the 1/4. So the headers do make a difference.

When I'm racing in SS..I actually let then engine rev till 6500 even tho our redline is at 6250. Running at sea level is definitely going to improve your time. I'm in Newport Beach and driving to Riverside or Rowland Heights, I can feel the loss of power due to elevation as well as warmer air. We get really cool and dense air here by the ocean esp at night. Too bad they closed Terminal Island, it was a race track right by the ocean.

I just ran this past sat at 500 ft above sea level, and I ran a 14.9 at 94 mph with just cold air intake, in reg d5 auto i could only manage to hit 15.01, but in SS mode I was able to get a 14.9, next time I'll try manually shifiting from d1-d3.
