03 tls w/av6 tranny - how can I safely add hp without risking damage to av6

I would like at least 280-300 hp. I lost horribly to a 07 type s and wonder if there's a way to keep up without a supercharger.

Would headers and some exhaust mods be safe and get me the HP I desire?

I think a CAI should be able to get you to 300hp. Make sure you use the stickers that come with it though.

The stickers are the most important part; placement of the stickers are a close second.

You can add any kind of power, Stock AUTOs are good for up to 500HP to the crank... The weak end was the OG trans which had a flaw in design that made it die faster regardless of power. The AV6 does not have this issue so you should be able to push power.

Also who races a 07 Type-S with a Stock Car? No way in hell you will put a dent on it...

Especially if the Type-S has a 6MT.

I have yet to see one in my Area, For some reason they are all autos around here... Now the real question is, Who opts for a 3G Type S and chooses the OPTIONAL Auto???? We in the 2G TL-S didn't have a choice

I cannot answer that question, but I can honestly say, if I had been interested in a Type-S, it would only have been a 6MT version. That said, I deliberately looked for a 2006 6MT as I think the looks of Type-S are a bit too overstated for my tastes.

I would only want a 3G Type-S for the Brembo Brakes hahahaha I don´t really like the style of the 3G TL at all...
I only like old people/family cars... RL, 4G TL, MDX etc.

That's the beauty of the 2004-2006 3G 6MT models, they have the Brembo brakes but more "sleeper" looks.

Power isnt the problem with these trans and the stock trans failure issues.

I know obviously the swap is being done when the trans is going / gone bad, but what is the reason for the accord transmission? Is the reliability better or are they just generally cheaper for people? Looking local for me they are priced used around the same price as the TL trans, and the local transmission guy around here will rebuild for around $800, which is about the same price as a used one.

FAR better reliability! Updated proven design on the Accord transmissions(AV6) and also cheaper than 2nd gen TL glass transmissions. Generally you are talking $3,000 for a good rebuild which won't last anyway. The $800 quote I'd be skeptical about.

Good to know, mine has over 250k on it now but when it lets loose I'll definitely be looking for the Accord trans. As for the price of the rebuild, it's only that cheap because it's a "friend price", the guy definitely knows what he's doing. But yeah anyway thanks for the info and clearing that up for me.

WOW! 250k on the original Trans? If so, you are one lucky duck.
