'03 TL-S vs. '94 Chevy S-10 SS -- not quite as funny as it sounds
Now before you laugh and wonder why I'm asking, this is a modified 1994 S-10 SS.
It's my friend's, and he's curious how it would fare against my currently stock TL-S in a straight-out acceleration test. He and his father have made some mods to it. They put in a performace camshaft, a performance exhaust, shift kit (shifts faster), and lowered the gear ratio. The stock '94 S-10 SS had 180 hp; they have no idea how much this one has after the mods, but he has no problems chirping the tires when it enters second gear.
We won't have the opportunity to "test" this theory for a couple of weeks, probably, so in the meantime I wanted to know what you guys think the outcome would be.

Well, he should be putting out 190+ horsepower, and the changed gear ratios will help. But, it comes down to how much his truck weighs, an unless it's less than 2800 Ibs, he probably doesn't stand much of a chance.

About the weight: according to him it's "light" but according to edmunds.com it's 5,000 lbs.
Yeah, I personally think I'll win too, I'm just a little wary because him and his dad have done some pretty amazing things to vehicles before...and although I've never ridden in the truck, from the way he drives it certainly looks like it can haul @ss. I guess we'll find out soon!

Don't worry, it shouldn't be a problem.
A very good friend of mine has the same truck, though it's a '97. Had very similar mods and was quick, but not quite enough to take out a TL-S.
That is until now...we dropped an LT1 from a Z28 into it this past summer. Now, it's a whole different story. This was one hell of a project, but the truck is BAD! Quite the sleeper, too.

I would've gone with the LS1.
Don't get me wrong- LS1 is probably the finest old-tech (meaning 2-valve pushrod) small block V8 ever built, but sometimes the cost outweighs the benefits.

In this case, the LT1 was a more cost effective solution and a relatively install friendly option(considering we were doing the work ourselves).
