I have an 03 ACURA TL Type S. The navigation system on it is a DVD based unit. Whenever I search by "Category" and then "Within a City's Vicinity" the unit would basically freeze and give an error message of - "Hard disk is unformated (Please consult the Dealer)"

I have done a search on this forum pertaining to this issue, yet the few threads that came back were for ppl who owns the 99TL with a hard drive based navi.

Does anyone know the solution to this problem I'm having? My car is currently out of warranty, and I know the dealership is going to rape me for it if I were to bring this to them. PLEASE HELP!!

 

I never got that message but it mines did freeze once and i ejected the dvd and put it back in and it seems to work fine now. If you know anyone with an acura dvd based navi that will let u borrow their dvd u can try their dvd n see if its just your dvd that has the problem

 

Sounds like it's having problems getting data off the DVD. It could be that your DVD needs to be cleaned, or the DVD drive in the unit is going bad.

My "backup" copy of 2.11c did something similar after about a month of use. I put the original DVD back in and it worked just fine after that.
