Hello all.
I just joined and would like to know if 36 MPG is normal in a 2003 TL-S with 260 K on it. This seems to good to be true. It's my first long trip in it and I didn't drive slowly. Over a pass and 75-80 on the highway. I'm getting 25 in city driving conditions. I've got a bit of work still do do on this, but I'm enjoying this car that I planned on flipping. Told my wife that we'll probably keep it since I'm so impressed with it!

interesting...How did you come up with 36 mpg?

When I filled up, I'd gone 187 miles. I put 5.2 gallons in. That was 35.9 MPG. After I filled back up in Salem, I drove home. 125 miles and I haven't used 1/4 tank. I'm going to fill up today and see what it is. Originally Posted by whitetiger5

I would double check that. EPA ratings are 17 city and 27 highway.
Personally I see around the 17-19mpg area on a 2001 TL Premium.
I would reset the trip meter on fillup and then run a tank down to where the light comes on... See where your mileage is then. I would imagine you would be somewhere in the range of 300-400 miles on the trip meter.

I'm only getting 270 miles max from a full tank that was over filled and spilling lol. I get less if I step on the gas.

Finally hit empty and the gas light went on. I took a picture of the miles driven. Went 382.9 on the tank (mostly city driven). Filled it up and it took 14.1 gallons. Looks like 27.1 MPG this time around. So, that 36 MPG on the highway was pretty close. Not sure how or why this car is doing this, but I'm not complaining. I don't know what was done to it before I bought it. I am still planning on changing plugs on it, but with it running so well, I'm hesitant to do anything!
