'03 TL or '05 tC?

Alright here's the dilemma: My friend has a 2003 Black TL (Not Type-S) with 25,000 miles and he's asking for $17,500. His mom went to the Acura dealership and almost sold it to them for about $11,000 so I'm guessing I can probably get it for $14-15k easy. His father (who recently passed away) drove it. Non smoker and I'm guessing he baby-ed the car also.

My sister is about to get her license so she needs a car. Should she get the TL or should I give her my tC and take the TL?

The tC is SSM with almost 17,000 miles.

Thanks for the input!

He is referring to the Scion Tc. Since your sister is going to be a new driver, I would recommend you keep the Tc, and your sister should get an older used car.

I think your sister should get neither of the 2 nice cars you have cuz she's just getting her lisence. BUT, if you have to give her one of those cars I'd give her the smaller car (Tc). and Keep the big TL for yourself with more expereince driving.

i would take the TL...25k miles is nearly nothing on the TL. Its nicer, so give ur sis the tC.

Winner. There is no way my ass would be driving around in a Scion while my 16 yr old sister rolls in a TL.

Additionally, the TL is bigger, and doesn't exactly turn/park on a dime. Give her the smaller car.

Also someone said you should take the "newer" car. . .While technically the scion may be "new" and the TL may be "used". . . lets be realistic here. The TL is the superior machine.

Take the TL, give sis the Scion.

u should give her the tC and take the TL-S for yourself, IMO, the TL got too much power for a new driver to handle, the tC is a real good beginner car

IMO, it don matter how old a car is
you wouldnt give a 16-17 yr old a 01 Lamborghini Diablo over a 04 Civic now would u?

Does anyone pay attention? He said (NON Type-S).

But still, as an owner of a TL-P, I'd definitely take it over any Scion.

Give her the TC and you take the TL-P..But you still and youngin and in too serious modding probably so keep your TC pick up the TL-P for her and sell it for cash and buy her a responsible car for a new driver and keep what is left over to mod your TC

Wow, talk about a biased forum... The TC's are actually quite nice for their price. In fact, I think the TC looks helluva lot nicer than most 2nd gen TL's.

i dunno which one would be faster...my friend has a 5spd TC and he ran a 15.7(the car has really really short gears...5th gear at 65mph was at about 3k), which im assuming it puts it around the same time as the tl-p

i might be wrong tho...my 3g tl ran 15.4 stock 5at

Take the tl. The tc is basically a basic ecomomy car, with non of the luxery features the tl has. There is a reason a used tl is worth more or the same as a brand new tc. Tl = the win in this argument.

Give her the tC, but keep a set of keys for yourself "just in case".

If she's a noob, then she probably would benefit from the smaller tC. But also, if she's in HS, then giving her a smaller car means she won't have to drive her broke-ass friends around, which is always a plus. The TLs gonna get trashed cuz they will always take her car around cuz its bigger.

There are lots of factors, but it has not been unusual for TL-Ps to trap low 15s. Kris (fsttyms) had 175k on his pretty much stock 2000 TL when it ran a 15.01 at the track, if I remember this correctly.

With a few mods and a great driver, a tC can pull 15.2s 1/4...

FUCK SCION TC! TC's are wack. They dont look sharp at all. TL looks better, sounds better, drives better, more hp, better engine with VTEC, and has features a SCION PIECE OF SHIT WILL NEVER HAVE. HANDS DOWN the TL WINS. HOLLA!!!!! Give the sis TC and you take the TL of course UNLESS, you dont like the tan inteirior that comes with a black TL. IMO i hate the tan inteirior that the black TL comes with. Shit looks ugly. COME ON MAN, DONT BECOME THE VICTIM OF A SCION TC KILL BY ONE OF THE MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM. THAT WOULD BE EMBARASSING.

Scions are actually great cars for the money. I wouldn't mind one as a daily driver.

But if I had to pick one, well... you guys know my answer.

I always thought the TC's looked nice when they first came out but now there are soooo many of them, I dont even pay attention to them no more. And for the people that said its a girl car..... it's true, majority of the people I see driving those cars are girls, I've seen a few guys, but mainly girls, kind of like the Celica GT. I would have a TL any day over that, specially a black one . Also like someone already said, I would be pissed if my little sister was driving an Acura as her first car while I was driving a Scion.

I think tc's are cool. When they are older you'll see more of them modded. But If I had the choice I'd take the TL and sell the tc, Your sisters a new driver, make her work for her own car. Until then she can take the bus while you ride in your TL.

Yeah, don't be offended by the guys here on the board, they're obviously a little over the top with the car bashing... The tC is a good car for its price range. It would be a nice car to give to your sister for her to learn on, while you enjoy the luxury status of the TL-P.

are you giving your sister the TC and then spending another 14-15k on the TL?

TL without a question, how can you compare the two?
