02 TL-P to TL-S6

Hey guys, my tranny just took a shit and it's time for the 6 speed.

I was considering my options, and I had a couple questions. I want to get a Type-S engine and a CL-S6 tranny. Unfortunately, I have a 2002 TL-P with the TL-P ECU. Would it be possible to do the following build:

-CL-S6 Tranny
-TL-S Engine
-TL-S ECU
-Type-S Richie Module

I would prefer that setup over doing a complete CL-S6 conversion, as the wiring scares the shit out of me. Plus, I like using my moonroof. Air bags and ABS are a plus too.

If that isn't possible, I would take the next step down and go for:

-CL-S6 Tranny
-TL-P Engine (Keep Existing)
-TL-P ECU (Keep Existing)
-TL-P Richie Module

Please advise, as I want to keep the wiring work to a minimum.

If the first build is possible, I'm guessing I'll have to get the Type-S engine harness. Is that the only harness I should have to change, if I use the module?

The tl-p engine harness will work you just have to get a window switch for the intake manifold release control. MSD makes I don't remember the part number though

I think with either Swap, Keeping the Wiring to a Minimum would be Impossible...

But I dont know your budget going to the TL-S route will be more expense since you need the Engine + ECU, And Adding up that the 6 Spdo Swap is around 3K you will need around 4.5K to do the whole thing TL-S...

Option 1 is not only possible but more worth it. I went with option 1 and everything but TCS works. I love driving this car and definitely has a lot of throttle response.

The Richie V6 harness is very easy to install, it only took about 2-3 hours so get wired in and I'm new to wiring. Azine has been there for me so you get stuck on the way we'll answer your ?'s.

Yea, I figured that the TL-S engines were so cheap now, it would be stupid not to get it. And yea, I wouldn't even attempt anything if not for AZine members.

So I'll go for the first build. Seeing that I'm getting a TL-S engine and ECU, I'm assuming I'll need the TL-S engine wire harness? Or can I just use the TL-P engine wire harness?

I used a type s engine wire harness. I wanted to do a 1 for 1 swap and not mess with it.

I think you need an IMRC module in order to make the butterfly to automatically open, I don't think mine works

Hmm, if using a TL-S engine, TL-S wire harness, and TL-S, why can't the car control the secondary stage?

What controls that part on the real TL-S? I figured the ECU would do it via a switch in the engine. Can't I just swap that over?

A bit off topic but does anyone know if you could put in the 3.5L in from the odyssey?
doesnt that one have a bit more power and is just as efficient?
Or is it too different to fit in our cars?

I've been looking for the parts to buy, and I have a question. Obviously I will be using an 03 CL-S tranny, but I don't know whether to use an 02 TL-S engine or an 03 TL-S engine.

If I pick an 02 engine, can I use an 03 TL-S ECU? Or should I not mix and match?

I have an 02 TL-P, so I figured I would get an 02 TL-S Engine and 02 TL-S ECU. However, if it is cheaper/easier to find 03 parts, should I use them?

The part numbers are different, so I was wondering what the differences are. Which model year stuff should I get?

02 and 03 engines are the exact same.

The ECU does not control the actual 2nd stage intake. There is a IMRC box that does that.
