02 In dash cd changer JAMMED!!

My stupid sister jammed it, god knows how. Manual says to take it to the dealer. Screen says Er-Ei, somthing like that. But im just curious about the fix. Has anyone had this before? If so, what did they do? how long did it take??

Thanks in advance

How did it jam? More than one CD being fed in at once? Won't spit one back out on eject? If it just won't spit out the CD when you press eject (but you can physically see it in the slot), get a small flat blade like a pocket knife (plastic or metal) and *carefully* press down on the top of the CD (near the outer edge) after you hit the eject button. It should spit the CD out. Be careful not to scratch the top of the CD. Now if you can't see the CD or if more than one got put in the same slot at once, you may have to go to the dealer.

If this is the case, it sounds like the internal mechanism jammed somewhere. Definitely gonna require a trip to the dealer. Although that part sucks, at least they'll fix it under warranty. Many on this board with similar head unit problems have reported the dealer installing a brand new head unit (seeing as electronics like that are hard to repair at dealer level).

Good luck.
