02-03 TL-S vs Maxima 3.5 or Altima 3.5

Second gen TL-S vs. newer Nissan Maxima and/or Altima 3.5 ???
Lets say the Nissans have the CVT and obviously the TL-S is also an auto.
Both cars basically stock. I know the Nissans have the more powerful engine.
But how well do they really run? Does a TL-S even come close in performance?

All 3 are great sedans.

Straightline performance is about equal with all 3. The 09+ Maxima is slightly faster than the TL-S and Altima CVT which are equal in straightline. Both run mid 14's stock. The Maxima runs low 14's.

Maxima has 290hp
TL-S has 286HP
Altima V6 has 270hp

Handling edge would go to the TL-S and Maxima over the Altima. The altima comes with skinny 215-55-17's which doesn't help that car 1 bit.

he said 2nd gen TL-S.

There has only been 2 TL-S models. 02-03 were the 1st of the TL-S and 07-08 is the 2nd TL-S. Did you notice he didn't say 2nd generation TL but 2nd gen TL-S........

ONLY 2 gens of the TL-S model. 3 gens of the TL.

You are right about the 1st TL's in 96. I was referring to 1st TL-S was 02-03 not TL's.
