02-03 TL Radio compatibility with a 99 TL

Hello guys,
Does anyone know if the 02-03 TL radio and cd player will be compatible with my 99 TL? Will the steering controls work as well??

I would like to change it because of 2 reasons:
1)the 99 cd player does not play burned cd's
2)I would like to have the 6 disk changer

welcome,

yes you can fit the newer radio into the dash i believe. but why?

the newer 6 disk will jam like everyone else's does.

"the 99 cd player does not play burned cd's" the 6 disk does not like "burned" cd's because it jams from them.
the stock head unit just plain old sucks, 99 or the newer one.

get an aftermarket double din or single din, there are dyi's on how install them its easy.

Thank you gold2003tl for the quick response, and the advice.
I was thinking of the double din the ones w/nav, but if I do that, than I want to put the best out there, or something close to the best...which means lots of $$$

Do you have any suggestions on a good double din unit under $700, one that does not take a long time to load up??

I installed a 2002-2003 TL head unit in my 1999 TL and it works great. It plays burned CDs without a problem.

I've never had any jamming problems with mine.

^ I only play burnt CDs in my changer and it has never jammed. Just make sure there are no stick-on labels on the CD and you will be fine.

Thanks guys, for now I got the 02-03 headunit off of ebay for $130, it was tough finding one with the wood trim, because my car has that all over
