02-03 TL Projector Retrofit Build

Here is the progress on my 02 TL-S projector headlight retrofit. Ive done a bunch of retrofits in the past, but these i decided to take my time with over the past couple of months.

I went with brand new TYC Headlights, mint used Nissan Maxima HID Projectors, BMW E30 Projector Lenses and Black Passive Demon Eyes. I tried to keep it clean and OEM+ as i could. The corner reflectors i sent out to maine coast customs for Carbon Fiber Hydrodip. And for the Projector Shrouds i went with Aftermarket G37-R. I feel it came out very clean. Let me know what you think.

New TYC Headlights $195
Maxima HID Projectors $45
E30 Clear Lenses $35
G37-R Shrouds $30
Carbon Hydrodipped Reflectors $50
Morimoto D2H HID Bulbs $25
Hyluxtek 45W Ballasts $90
Amp Extensions $7.50
Silicone Dust Cap $9
D2S Housing Grommets $10
Silica Packs/Vents $10
Misc parts $15
Total Parts - $521.50

Looks awesome! The ugliest part of most projector retrofits is the yellow reflector. Not sure why I never thought of covering it.

the amber doesnt look so bad on these cars, but definitely wanted to do something different. I still have a quad projector setup in the works. One day that'll get finished

Very nicely done!

Surprised you didn't use the TRS Mini projectors like everyone else uses.

Glad to see some 2G TL love!

D2h worked better with my hyluxtek 45w ballasts, cleaner install than the big igniter on the back. Id go with d2s if i had the 200+ for the bulbs that i want, but the morimoto d2h are $45, its cheaper just to replace them every 2 years.

Thanks! I prefer the oem projectors, its cool to actually tune a good set of oems. I have another set of lights thats getting some rx350s.

These were mini d2s 5.0s, wasnt really liking the blackhousings at the time. another member ended up taking them off my hands

Ahh so you chose to do that to move the igniter away from the bulb, that makes sense to me!

Yeah the projectors are as far back as i could push them for that oem look, the d2s bulb with igniter would have stuck out alot more out of the back.

Wow, that looks fantastic!
Are you going to keep the high beam bulbs as they are then? The projectors I used had that little electromagnetic flapper to remove the cutoff plate for a "high beam", so I disconnected the wires to my OEM high beams but kept the bulb in.

These projectors are non bi-xenon, so i have regular high beams. The other set I'll eventually finish will be quad projectors, low beam will be bi-xenon not sure about the highs yet

You don't have DRLs anyway. My vote is go bright AF with the high beams!
