00 tranny is dead w/135000 mi.
my 00 tranny just died with 135000 mi. never got a letter stating the extended warranty. or would have had it replaced at 99000 mi. for safe bet. am i sol. went to dealer they quoted me 5k to replace it. what luck i have. anyways can the trans be fixed at a lower price or does it have to be completely repaced i need some help.(shifts hard, slips,) ss works fine does NOT shift hard in ss mode with no acceleration. the only thing i noticed about something wrong before 100k was it was tough to put in gear. but only happend when cold out (below 30F)......help from memphis, TN

damn that sucks man...i have 2000 close to the 100k mark and im hoping that it goes out soon so i can still replace it under warranty
if your gonna have to pay a few grand for a new transmission go get a custom bulletproof one built instead of a replacement.....some other guys on here have more info on that

Check this site for used tranny. Someone on that forum bought and installed one for just under or just over $1,000, if I remember correctly.

guys there is no reason that the tranny cant last a long time...and 135k miles is a pretty long time. I mean its not like these cars are expensive to maintain, so its worth putting some money into it. I dont think that 5k is worth it for a less than par tranny though - I mean you can get a big ass HD 4x4 tranny for half that - how the hell do they think ours is worth 5k???
I would say the aftermarket is the way to go, now that being said, I really dont know what or where to look...but I bet this board can figgure it out!

Transmission/Transaxle Assembly 21,000km $1,386.00 CDN = approx $1100.00 USD
This is from a local Toronto scrapper... it's from a 2003 TL but i'd work perfectly with yours... plus having 12,600 miles on it, you'd be good for a while with this trannie.. Obviously it might cost to ship it to ya, but it will help you to get a ballpark price or possibly with negotiating..

ok i appreciate all the help....now i went to the car part site and have found trannys from 800-1200$. those acura dealers are crazy quoting me 5k to replace it.....they must be trying to make up for the money lost on replacing all the trannys under warranty.anywho. i agree i havent spent anything on it since bought new in may 00 and i have gotten every bit of the 28,800 i spent on it, beside oil..etc..Its the best car i have ever owned. back to the trans, the ones i have found are stock same year model....now are the 00 and 01,02s the same trans. and where do you get a high preformance. i have to admit im no sunday driver and i can put hell on the trans. anyone whose been in memphis traffic knows when you have a window to change lanes you gun it and you take it. thanks for all the help....oh yeah whats the top speed on these. ive only gotten to 110 just curious.
