'00 front seat belts in an '03?
sorry if there is already a thread on this but i couldnt find anything.
i need to replace my drivers side seat belt because it is becoming more and more loose everyday and i think its a safety hazard now. plus i never changed my seat belts when i did my interior color change.
so question is, can i use front seat belts from a 2000 TL on my 03 TL-S? i found a deal for a full set of black seat belts, front and rear, for $120. (though i still have to find out if the car it was taken from was in a front end collision).

does the belt not retract properly? is that why its loose?
we have a special seat belt warranty 10 years 150kmiles because the adjuster messes up
Go speak with the dealer service- they can ck your VIN to see if part of covered units
or ck your acura.com owner account
or call 1 800 382 2238x5 acura care usa
they can look it up too

yeah thats why its loose. i looked at the warranty info on myacura and ill go to the dealer. my issue is i think they will only replace the seat belt with a tan one (because my original interior is tan) and i want a black one. do you think i could choose which color i wanted?
thanks
thanks
it wont hurt to ask!
a box of donuts for the parts dept and service desk goes a long way to generating Goodwill in your favor
If you are not covered vin- then ask parts desk what year belts will swap in directly?
probably most of them from same gen is my guess

Try this easy fix first: get some soap, water, thin towel and a thin piece of plastic (credit card, etc.) and clean the plastic "loop" where the seat belt goes through in the shoulder area. Cover the thin plastic with the wet towel and really scrub where the belt touches the loop (scrub the loop, not the belt).
After years of usage and accumulating dirt, this spot causes enough friction that the belt doesn't retract that well.

^ hmm. might be possible to some extent but it still doesnt retract even when i lift up the belt so thats its not even rubbing against any loops. its most likely something in the internals like the adjuster as 01tl4tl said. thanks for your input though!
and thanks again 01tl4tl! i might have time to go to the dealer this week, though i might now even bother since i found a full set of black seat belts for even less than $100 from an 03 TLS.

I've had my seat belt fixed twice now at the dealer. They told me seat belts have an unlimited lifetime warranty because of federal law. (?) I'm not sure how valid that is, but I didn't have any problems getting it fixed under warranty.

im pretty sure seat belts are warrantied for the life of the vehicle.. i know that some components of the SRS system had warranties extended to 150k, but i dont think the seat belts were one of them..
I personally think it's a great policy. It's easy to spend $500-$600 for a belt assy., retractor, buckle, and labor. I've had people who had to postpone or skip this on other makes because of the cost.
