hey everyone


do you guys have this problem. it just started today while i was parked @ wendys.


the SIDE AIRBAG OFF light keeps on turning on.. then off.. then on then off


i was thinking about bringing it to teh dealership

but i dunno how warranty covers it since i just purchased the car privatley and it only came with the 03' TL booklet.

do i still have warranty or how do i register or what not at the acura dealship??

Was anything sitting in the seat? A person, a bag, anything? The TL has what is known as OPDS which stands for Occupant Position Detection System. There are seven sensors in the passenger seat to determine the position of the passenger, and if the system determines that the person in the seat is in the path of the airbag and could be hurt by the side airbag, it will shut the airbag off and that light you mention will illuminate so that you can tell the passenger to sit upright, etc.

The sensors are tripped sometimes by bags you place in the seat, though.. or anything that weighs a few pounds. The system then believes a young child or car seat has been placed there, and shuts the airbag off.

yeah if he is leaning towards one of the airbag sensors then it'll light up.

If he likes to move around like most little boys, he was definitely the cause. Wait and see if, when you're alone, the light stays off. It sounds to me like you just became aware of OPDS, and it's doing its job just fine.

Usually towards the door it will show up.

word. i even had my small backpack in my passenger seat and it would go off... so thats the case... just tell him to stop leaning to the right so mcuh

it's just normal. You should start worry if the light stop going on and off when you have a passanger onboard.
