Lightbulb **Finally got the car back after 2 weeks for tranny**

i got the car back tonight and the tranny is running fine....BUT....as always with my luck we have a whole new issue with the engine.....when i picked up the car the guy told me it was throwing a vtec solonoid error but he reset the check engine light so it might come on.

the check engine light flew on today after i pushed her pretty hard in second what seemed to be the rev limiter kicked in at around 4000 RPM's and boom the check engine light comes back on....so i turned around and took it back to the shop....the guy claims he took the car for a ride 45 minutes before i picked it up and he said he felt nothing wrong....so i took him for a test drive so he can see for himself what was going on....he immediatly said it was the engine and it was the vtec solonoid problem that the check engine light was throwing.....so we took it back to the shop and the tech guy who worked on the car told me that the rev limiter is kickin in sooner that it should which is obvious so he said i would have to take the car to acura themselves because he doesnt know to much about the problem...........so i have to take the car to my other mechanic to see if he can solve the problem and if not then i will take it to acura.

so for all the acura brains on the forum can you give me a little feedback or share some knowledge with me as far as whats the problem and the cost to fix it..

looks like my bad luck will never fade away

i took it back and bitched but they dont know shit about working with v-tec so apparently it was a bullshit shop from the start i mean they fixed the tranny problem but now its throwing this vtec code so im gonna take it to my personal mechanic and if he cant do nuttin ill just take it to acura.....im not gonna waste my time dealing with people who dont know much about vtec because chances are they will fukk it up all over again

Make sure the VTEC solenoid didn't get unplugged by accident. I don't know where it is, but the fact that it's throwing that code and the rev limiter appears to kick in early could be linked (VTEC on a TL is 3400 rpm?).

Perhaps someone knows more about that?

Check your oil level.

Low oil = no VTEC for j00

yea thats funny cuz after i got an oil change the check engine light went off but then it ame back on so now its goin on and off each time i turn the car off and start it up again....does that also cause the rev limiter to kick in early???
